I think if that happened to me I'd re-format the SD card with the SD format tool linked in the guide and re-download the file, extract to SD and run the MD5 check file again.

Thanks for the clarity, as you say, i think it will become clear when i make a start and actually experiance installing the softmod to this guide & what it leaves me with.
Just nervous about bricking our first Wii, and its brand new.

    Edit, SUCCESS!!!!
I did it in about 40mins now I see what you mean. Thanks for a great guide Mauifrog and help from others in the detail.
My HDD works but I think I have configurable USB loader installed on the SD card from chapter 3. If I remove the SD card CFG dont work. Should I change this an install to the HDD or something??
Edit 2 Dont worry, I sussed it. I extracted the chapter 3 files to my USB HDD instead.
    Very Pleased so far.

Do I update the firmware and go through the 4.3 softmod process or is there some sort of shortcut?
no game ever requires a specific firmware version, get priiloader block updates from original discs, launch your backups via your softmod, disc or usb.

The guide said that al had to install without fail...so I'm just checking!
re-do that part. install all wads without error. if needed find reload IOS in MMM and set to 236.

of course. check in your wiisettings topright corner. you likely have a 4.3U console i guess.

I found this but the page is old [link removed]

I tried to play a PAL game by setting priiloader's region free enabled and trying all PAL bootup setting in the cfg usbloader, no luck the game will play while scrolling down. Probably due to >4.1
its the videosetting in the loader which is still causing problems. either set to game default or force to your wiis region, so on PAL games force to NTSC (if that applies to your wii)

go to settings-> savegame ->sd card, not the sd card button on the main screen. if one is there, delete sd:\private\wii\titles\atkn folder

    4.3u/e- Indiana PWNS or 4.3u/j-
-Go to wii settings, data management, save games, wii, SD
-Click SD, copy Indiana PWNS for your region
I clicked SD but there is nothing listed there. This is strange because the first time I did this, there were 3 different language files listed there. Everything before this point was followed to the letter of the 4.3 guide.
Can anyone please help me get back on track? Thank you for your time
strange. re-do, reformat, extract the pack again. or use the option of the guide with the hbc already present, you just have to run the hackmii installer once more, no need to start over with the game exploit. make sure you are accessing the card from the savegamemanagement in the wiisettings.

    <--suggestions helped? press Thanks

Vinatec, thank you very much! The third reformat of the SD card seemed to do the trick.

bootmii has never had wiimote support, hence the description press power power, reset etc etc., meant are always the buttons on the console.

    cu, enjoy your modded wii.
Oooops ok I will put all replies into one single post in the future. Sorry 'bout that. Thanks for letting me know. You know, I never could figure out what "power power power reset reset" meant. Glad I finally got it! Thank you once again.

    Please help...
Wiirunnr, see if the following helps you. Also remember you are backing up your chip to your SD card.
A note for those trying to use bootmii to backup your nand:

"In the Homebrew Channel press the home button on your Wiimote and select Launch Bootmii.
If at this stage your Wiimote stops working to navigate the menus you need to use the buttons at the front of your Wii, or use a Gamecube controller.
The power button allows you to toggle through the menus so you can highlight which option you want. And the reset button selects it.
So, press the power button until you hover over the settings icon, and then press reset".

    Thanks to
kokhwee for this much needed info!

Maybe these have all been discussed already but the thread is over 200 pages so I have a few questions as I am about to follow this guide.

    1. Priiloader blocks updates from discs and the internet right? So I can still play games that came with the console from the disc? (I heard that Metroid Prime Trilogy has had some problems with usb-loader, plus I wanted to have it for real, and Mario Kart Wii came with the console)

1b. Does this mean it's perfectly safe to be connected to the internet? If not it's perfectly fine with me but it's good to know.

    2. Is there anything I should look out for? (read: newbie mistakes that can brick or otherwise damage the console)

    3. Is it safe to assume Nintendo will try to crack through the priiloader defenses with any future or just-released games, for example Skyward Sword or Donkey Kong Country Returns? (i.e. have updates that slip through)

    Thanks in advance, great site.

So this means you will not do your part and read, you just want it handed to you?

    im stuck

i have read many pages in this thread but not all so if someone has previously had this issue i apologize.

    system is 4.3u
im stuck at the beginning of chapter 2. with the modpack anywii files on sd card when i do this
    Part 1- Wad Installs
Start HBC, press [HOME], Launch Bootmii
    Multi-Mod Manager Starts (via cboot2)

i get a blank black screen that does nothing.

using the alternative method again with correct files on sd card (IOS236-MMM-INSTALLER.zip)
IOS236 Installer v4 install crashes every time. i cannot continue.

does anyone have any suggestions for me

Ok, I've found the answer for question 1. (overlooked it completely sorry about that)

But I've tried the search function and excuse me but I would think a simple yes or no answer possibly including a link or minimal information (which would have taken just about the same space as your reply) would be less of a hassle than reading through 200+ pages of discussion.
