After softmodding my 4.3 Wii using this guide, I am now able to run Homebrew and backup game images (using WiiFlow) with an external HDD formatted as FAT32.

However, when I try to play my original copy of GoldenEye, it tells me that I need to update first.
Since everything I read tells me that I should NOT update once softmodded, how can I now play GoldenEye ?

When you "verify sum". Do you have to save to anything or just hit cancel.

    Greetings!
I've hacked my 4.3u Wii with this guide and I'm very happy with it.

    I have two quick questions.

How could I make a channel that loads a game directly from the USB CFG LOADER? I want to put the channels on the SD card if it's possible, I don't want to risk bricking the wii putting the channels on it directly.

Also, I've tried to run backup games from a DVD-R disc and they won't run, any advice? I do burn at low speed and my Wii was made in 2006, so.. it should be Evil Chip free.

You use the Power and Reset buttons on your Wii to navigate through the bootmii menu. That is the sequence of buttons you press to make a NAND backup.

Hi mauifrog - thanks SO much for such a well written and organized guide. It was nice when a few of us with different system menu versions got together and we could all follow the exact same guide.

I have a question I was hoping you could answer - every game I own plays fine through Cfg USB Loader with the exception of Scrabble Interactive 2009.

In a post by davepm (10-04-2009 5:32) he posts in the "Which IOS Games Use To Run" thread:

    Scrabble interactive.....IOS53.....v4113.....3.4

In your guide, you state the following is used:

    IOS53 (rev 5406+): No Patches

Will I have to downgrade in order to play this game, and if so, I suppose that means I might not be able to play certain other games until I revert back?

Which WAD did I install (by following your guide) that modifies IOS53? (excuse me if I'm phrasing that incorrectly)

Thanks again for the great guide!!!

I have recently bought a Wii and have allowed it to update to v 4.3E. I didn't apply any softmods prior to the update process. Is that what you refer to when you speak of a virgin 4.3 Wii? (I'm hoping it means a Wii that has 4.3 pre-installed on it )

If it does, I presume that the only way for me to softmod is to reverse the update. I have read that this is not recommendable, but is it at all possible?

    Thanks.
