    Ca Which guide should I follow ?

    I updated a used Wii that I bought. I know Homebrew was there...I saw it before doing that stupid update.

    I discovered that :
    "

    • There is a 67% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C2 (v2) and the drive has the new metal clip.
    • And there is also a 33% chance the chipset is GC2-D2E.

    "
    I'm ready to do that thing

    Now on 4.3U

    Thanks !!

    You can follow this guide or my 4.3 guide, which is exactly the same thing.

    For some reason I can't install homebrew channel or bootmii. In fact, I can't get past the (If you paid for this) splash screen. It just freezes. I have let it sit and sit, but the press 1 to continue never shows up. By change would you why this is happening?

    It has been know to take a long time, some longer that others. I don't know what ios you have, but it is scaning your wii for vulerabilies while you read that. The 1 does not appear until it is done. I would load it and go for a walk, give it lots of time.
    What system menu are you running?

    OK, so you installed ios61 and ios58, and it is hanging when loading from MMM?
    Try this-
    Rename sd:\boot.dol ->mmm.dol
    Copy sd:\apps\hackmii 0.8\boot.elf -> sd:\boot.elf
    Bannerbomb the card, the hackmii should load. Hopefully it does better for you.
    You did install 61 and 58 without error?

    Firstly, thanks for this guide. This reply isn't a question but rather a short report of success: reason for softmod: to play original pal gamecube discs on a 4.2u ntsc wii. I'm new to the whole modding thing. After successfully completing chapter 1 (installing homebrew chan and making nand backup with bootmii) i asked in irc what to skip in chapter 2. I installed the wads of part1 then skipped forward to installing priiloader. All tasks completed with expected results and i didn't have to panic. In addition to the 2 system hacks in priiloader to prevent updates, i enabled the "region free everything". I tried a soul calibur 2 gamecube disc and it was recognised and the game started! Thanks again for this tutorial

    Could you please attach a text file of your old guide

    Thank you mauifrog for this great guide. I used it in May and would like to keep a text file of how I did it exactly. I searched all over for it, but can't find it anywhere. I read through the threads where one already asked for it. I think it would be helpful for all the people that followed your older guide and need it as a reference. (Dop-Mii,...)
