Okay, I've followed the "Part 2- Install Homebrew Channel" and I have succeeded (yay)
Now, I've loaded HBC, pressed Home and then Launch BootMii.

So here's the problem. I'm at a screen, there are four icons ("wii" "the homebrew channel" "sd" and "two gearwheels, probably settings)
I can't do anything while in on that screen, and I'm at the "Make a nand backup" step. So,, is there anything I should start to make a nand backup, or am i supposed to do that now while im on the bootmii screen?
(Also, the wii remote can't connect) Is it now I'm supposed to press Power Power Power Reset Reset?

    Thanks for your time

Edit: didn't see your edit. I'm joining the chat now.

    ???
mauifrog described how to proceed, so you have the md5 checksum left column and the file name right column, find a md5 tool for mac and verify each file

That can occur on several occasions. loader file is corrupted/file the loader is loading is corrupted/sd card wrong format (go for fat32)/sd card is too slow.
cleanly reformat/put files on it again, retry

your drive is capable to play backup discs? (newer wiis can't play burned media)

already tried a different sd card? really very likely it is not working, even it is a 1Gb SD card..

also this might help: but i would try another card first (2GB SD Sandisk)

(Hackmii freezes: Follow this guide. If still no luck after that, follow the HBC apps section of this guide.) (freeze and dsi is not the same per se, but maybe it helps).

Thank you for this guide! I had a Wii and followed a youtube guide and bricked it with no backup installed, NAND wasn't even mentioned! luckily the shop assistants didn't catch on and swapped it straight away to keep me happy.
thanks for putting this together much appreciated!

Save around 40 bucks by not having to buy an external enclosure for your hard drive

Good news dudes looking to for a cheap external drive setup that works. This 1 dollar USB 2.0 to IDE SATA 5.25 S-ATA/2.5/3.5 Adapter Cable works! I bought about 3 different cables and cheap enclosures with no success until I tried this one and eureeka! I've tested it out on two external drives that work with it, a Momentus 80gb 2.5 size drive and a 120gb 3.5 size drive.

USB 2.0 to IDE SATA 5.25 S-ATA/2.5/3.5 Adapter Cable on eBay.ca (item 320555093157 end time 25-Dec-10 22:24:42 EST)

This cable needs power from a computer power supply, or you can just get use an old power supply off the side of the road and turn it on without any additional parts, by doing this:
