    Post Geosox

thanks for posting this guide. It looks very useful. Before getting started, I juts had a question as to why the downgrade to 4.1 is optional and since it is, what is the advantage to doing it or not doing it? Since most of the documents out on the internet tell of the ills in downgrading, should I be concerned.

Also, during the nand backup, it states Press Power, Power, Power, Reset, Reset. These are the power and reset buttons on the wii console, correct? Also, how long do we press each button and do we press them together at any point?

Thanks for now. The rest looks pretty straight forward (I hope).

keep up the great work. This site looks fantastic.

Can't get some Wads to install

Hi, yesterday I bought a new Wii (serial # LU74...) with System Menu 4.2U, I've been following this guide up to Chapter 2, part 1 Wad Installs. When installing the wads, 9 of 24 they return errors and the installation is incomplete. The wads I'm having problem are:

    -cIOS30-v6174-TED
    -cIOS70-v6174-TED
    -cIOS223[37-38]-v4
    -cIOS247[37]-v20
    -cIOS248[56]-v20
    -cIOS249[38]-v17
    -cIOS250[57]-v20
    -Neogamma CHANNEL r8 Auto Mod-NEOG
    -USBLoaderCFG_Forwarder-UCXF

Any ideas of what the problem is? What should I do? Thanks in advance.

what is the external for? a usbloader? you should have one present in your hbc and maybe installed as channel (cfg usbloader) if you didn't skipped it. Have you completed chapter 3? there is the app pack with the loader. also links to wiiflow etc in the end of the guide.

Try the installation again. Run MMM by pressing home inside hbc -> bootmii
maybe check the IOS MMM runs on, try to reload to IOS 236 and install the wads again, to make it shorter just highlight those missing wads to do the batch install.

    <--suggestions helped? press Thanks

I think I'm all set for now - I wanted to share my situation just in case it would help anyone:

I had a Wii from around 2007, had it hard modded with the original Wiikey - it played back ups and I did not have any sort of softmod or homebrew applications. After awhile I experienced the gpu over heating problem where your picture slowly becomes more and more pixelated. It was out of warranty and Nintendo offered to fix it for $85 - this was no use to me because they were probably going to gut my unit and possibly even give me a new DVD drive that couldn't read backups.

I just went ahead and bought a new, red Wii. I had never softmodded before so I found this guide - which is what I needed because the red Wii's automatically come loaded with 4.3u. So I followed this guide to the letter - although I wish I would have researched more because I installed "Darkcorp" which is useless to me as the DVD drive no longer loads back ups. (Will having Darkcorp cause problems down the road? Is it easy to uninstall?) I also got a new WD MyBook external HD to use with WiiFlow.

I've started the process of loading my games onto the HD through WiiFlow. Some games I want to load I need to use the backup disc - so I followed the OTHER guide for softmodding Wii's under the 4.2 update so that I may softmod my OLD Wii so that I can use it's good DVD drive to load the game files onto my external HD, so that later I can load them on my NEW Wii. This tripped me up at first because to get to the Wiiflow install game menu on the OLD Will on 4.1, I had to extract this onto my hard drive: cIOSx 249 Rev19/20. BUT, to get Wiiflow to load and then load into games on the NEW Wii, I had to extract this onto my hard drive: cIOS222/223.

Again I was using the OLD Wii to place the games onto the external HD, and the only way I could load Wiiflow to do this was with cIOSx 249 Rev19/20 extracted onto the HD. And to be able to load these games from Wiiflow on the NEW Wii later, I had to have these files, cIOS222/223, extracted onto the HD. Also note that my HD is 1 FAT32 partition, as recommended in the guide.

Still no luck. Ran MMM from bootmii it loaded succesfully, but still those 9 cios won't install, shooting back error(-1022). Also, tried the alternate method with the IOS236 installer, no problem with the installation, then went to MMM from the HBC and tried to install those 9 cios, no luck again. Any other sugestions? Thank you.

    From Error Index:
    1022:
Wad Install Error: Most likely incorrect format or corrupt SD card. Memory might be full.
