If I may ask another question. I have another wii I just modded using this guide. Went from 4.3 downgraded to 4.1 and I installed Darkcorp. However my backups are not being read at all. Gamecube backups are though oddly enough. I followed the guide exactly and didn't do anything different. Is there an explanation or something else I have to do? Thanks for the help : )

I followed the steps for my red wii. However now that i got my setup done, for my PAL game backups, i can't get some of them to work with my red wii (ala, the black screen occurs after loading the backup) here is what i have done:

    1) prii loader: force region-free
    2) in the individual game settings in cfg usb loader, "force ntsc".

Some of the backups, such as mario party 8 pal, simply work with force ntsc. However other backups, such as wii party pal, don't work with "force ntsc" settings.

can anyone help out a noobie please? I believe the cIOS, by default, is 250 for the cfg usb loader from the last .rar file in the softmod guide. Do i need to use various cIOS? video settings change? etc etc.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
I'm by no means an expert and haven't tried this yet myself, but if your trying to play a PAL game wouldn't you need to 'force PAL'. assuming your system is ntsc.
again i'm a noob to all this, so get it confirmed with someone more experienced.

On another note, if anyone can help. I was wondering about the HBC file in the savegames of the wii. can this be deleted or does it need to stay there for the HBC to run.

    Thanks

Loadmii won't help, you have to use a usb loader like cfg you mentioned and got from this guide. Prepare your drive according to the two available guides (linked in the guide, Fat32 guide also in my sig)

forcing your wii's region signal should work, if not try to set game language to english, and alter the IOS to use on gameloading. 250->249->223->222->224 something like that.
you can also try the setting: game defaut for videomode, works most of the time.

you force the region of your wii. save file can be deleted/not needed by the hbc.

that is likely not the issue, disc can stay in the wii, bet it is your card, which is incompatible?
try to format again, use the sd formatting tool.
Only use a max. 2GB standard SD card, no SDHC/mini/micro with adapter.

    good luck to all

I actually did the same thing and I believe it's just the shop channel update for the demos, can anyone confirm? I'm looking to mod my new red wii next week once my sd card reader gets here and want to make sure that since I did that update that I'm still okay to mod it. I know it says in the guide the newer wiis disc drive won't work, but if I install darkcorp would it still read a legit disc?

I am a bit confused on what you mean by "just the shop channel update." The shopping channel needs to be updated to v20, but you don't have to have to update your system menu for that.

I don't think you understand the difference between newer drive chips. Newer Wii's cannot read burned DVD's or play DVD movies, but you can still use a legit disc to hack them. Don't install DarkCorp, because it can screw up your Wii.

Sorry what I mean is I was trying to browse the shop channel right after I got the red wii and it asked me to update my version but in the system menu still says 4.3u so I was thinking the update only did something to the shop channel because they put demos back on it? Basically I'm just trying to confirm that since I did that update that I can still softmod the wii. As for the disc drive, what I meant was after I softmod the wii will it be able to play a game that I buy at a store still or is the disc drive rendered useless for all games/dvds?
