Made an update to the guide:
Removed the the ios34, 36, etc install for Korean wiis- it should not be required on 4.x korean wiis. 3.3k-3.5k may need to install ios38 and/or 61, but hopefully ios58 is all the is required (still need to test it, so let me know)

Added ios58 install for all wiis less than 4.3 prior to hbc install- provides usb2 support to HBC, should prevent any flipping from patching ios and no vulnerable ios errors, etc (hopefully)

    Added v0.8 hackmii installer

Small edits here and there. Added some spoilers (hope people know how to use those.)

just a quick question. ive modded many wiis with an older guide which always worked for me and ive updated it as ive went along i.e. cios revs and the like. however the process was always a long one with downgrading to 3.2 and then upgrading to 4.1. now this guide is 3 times faster can bring you to a 4.1 system menu very easily with the ios batch installer then up/downgrader to 4.1. now after all that bumf why is this not in the main tut section as it has to be the best guide on here. now i do see that its mostly the same as the 4.3 guide that mauifrog wrote but as this cover every system menu it has to be the best.

ps the only thing that wouldnt work was the hackmii and bb files at the start just came up with a question mark in the wii sd channel. but i got the file directly from bootmii and bannerbomb sites with no probs.

I am now stuck at step 1. I have formatted my sd card and loaded the hackmii files onto the sd card and when I go into data management, channels and select the sd card icon nothing loads. I just get one of the channels showing a question mark on the left.

Can you help me out please.
    Steve,

You are welcome to try this guide or any other, but do stop posting in multiple forums. I responded to you in the 3.1-4.1 softmod tutorial. If you are going to follow this tutorial instead that is fine and I won't look for you in the other thread then. Good luck to you.

Excellent, glad you solved the problem. Looking back at your posts, I am puzzled about something-you report your Wii as a 3.2 but were unable to install bootmii as boot2. Was that Wii downgraded to 3.2 and not an original 3.2. That would mean that your core IOSes do not have the Trucha Bug vulnerability as I mentioned in my response to you in Dogeggs' tutorial. Regardless, good luck.

To be honest with you after following so many tips etc on try this thread, try this thread I remember when I very first started posting that it was 3.2 but I just checked and it says 3.4E.
I am not sure if that is due to using the safe upgrade to 4.1 or if I just got it wrong but It was a virgin machine when I first started.
I may have reported that incorrectly.
Thanks for your help by the way. The responses are great on this site and I am sure I will get there in the end. I am just backing up my nand again.

No, the safe update to 4.1 would have updated, of course, to system menu 4.1. It either would have worked or failed but not left you updated fro a 3.2 to any else under 4.1. Judging from the inability to install bootmii as boot2, that Wii was probably originally a 3.4 then and my initial advice would not have worked as you would indeed have to do the Trucha Bug restore step and that downgrading step that had you initially stuck.

So, just for your own information, not needed right now...from your previous question-AnyTitleDeleter is a homebrew application and you would have run it under the HBC menu. Hopefully, this tutorial will get you through without a problem now.

Hi. I have successfuly hacked this wii now. Thanks very much, the guide worked perfectly.

I had a few errors when I tried to install priiloader and the screen went to gibberish but rebooting with the reset button in still made it go into priiloader okay so it worked out.

Tested usbloader on several games and it is working fine.

    Once again, thanks very much

    Help!

    Hello
    *
I’ve been reading the guides to soft modding my wii for a few days now and maybe I shouldn’t have!! I’m now getting more and more confused about which route to take to softmod my wii.
I have a virgin black wii at 4.3e (bought 2 months ago) I have Indiana game and sd card ready to go, but I’m confused as to which guide I should follow?
I’ve seen so many all under 4.3 guides umbrella, some guides saying I should do steps ‘restore the trucha bug’, some saying ‘load ios15 ‘ and some ‘set versions to v54321’
While some others miss these parts out totally and just go straight into HBC, BOOTMI and installing WADS
Also unsure which files I should us on my sd card. I’ve downloaded a few sets but now confused as to which I should use for my situation.
Apologies if this sounds extremely noob-ish but I have a sickly feeling if I continue without getting some more advice I will most definitely brick! Sorry if this is in the wrong forum just it seem that this was the right place

follow this one and you should be good to go. all guides have been tested many many times so will/should work if you follow them to the letter. if you get stuck then post a question and someone will help
