Thanks in general for you guys for this tutorial. I have followed it and now my Wii is succesfully softmodded.
I used a Samsung mini SD card 2GB with a Kingston MicroSd adapter. For games I'm using a Kingston 4GB miniSD with a Kingston USB adapter plugged in Wii. Unfortunately a brand new Samsung S1 Mini didn't work at all, so I will keep with the 4GB miniSD until I save some money for a new or used HDD.

I just faced a moment of not-sure-what-to-do when opening md5summer because it's not clear that you have to open it in your PC! Besides that and some scared issues when re-loading bootmii (I forgot to re-place required boot and files, my fault), all went great.

    Thanks again.

If you buy a new SD card, don't get a mini or one that is over 2GB! Stick with the official Nintendo 2GB one, because it is fully compatible.

    "Failed to mount FAT device
    Can't find Hacks.ini on NAND"

What app are you using to format the sd card?

Question Moving from SD Card to USB HDD (FAT32)

I've previously modded my 4.3U Wii successfully using this guide. As I understand, I have to keep the SD Card loaded for things to work. Can I move all the contents of my SD Card to a FAT32 formatted USB Drive (I bought a Western Digital since everyone here recommends it) and expect everything (especially Wadmanager, Wiiflow) to work fine after removing my SD Card from the slot ?

I have also installed the Wiiflow channel via a forwarder. Will this continue to work if I remove the SD Card and move everything to the USB Drive ? Or do I need to delete the channel (using Wad manager ?) and reinstall it for it to work from the HDD. TIA.

If you remove the sd card wiiflow will not work seeing as how it is a forwarder channel. The forwarder loads into homebrew, then into the version of wiiflow on your sd. this is why you dont have to install the full channel to the system memory.

Edit: The Wiiflow forwarder will always look for a fat partition on your external hard drive first for loading the application and settings, so no worries. I myself have a 1.5TB western digital, partitioned into a 5 gb fat 32 for homebrew loading, 100gb wbfs for iso loading and 1.3TB ntfs for file storage. God I love technology
