GX 3.0 is almost 2 years old. After that, another team took it over and started releasing under a different set of source control, so I don't know if the in-app update feature works well (never tried it), but I would install a recent version (I have one linked in my signature) and not update it in-app.

The in app update doesn't install anything beyond 3.0 r1180.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

As for getting your hard drive to work right, have you checked out the FAT32 guide? (also linked in my signature)
    ------------

Hi, thank you for the reply.
I ended up reformatting the external hard drive drive again as ntfs.
Its working great through wiiflow now.
Not sure what the issue was, but the format seem to do the trick.

But thank you again for trying to help.

well i'm using first page method and files, and in first page GX Loader is version r1209, and in app update to r1219.
this update shown around last week, every i turn-on GX, it request to update, and after i update it, it never show up again.
but since this r1219 version, my wii have 3 times hanging and show like command prompt, stack dumb, sort like it.

Hello, many thanks for your tutorial, very well detailed and any noob can follow.

I would like to help improve it, suggesting two things:

    Chapter 1
    you have the following text:

-Exit WiiMod to go back to the Homebrew Channel

    Suggestion

-Press "home" button to exit WiiMod to go back to the Homebrew Channel

    Chapter 2

I dont think [SIZE=3] is supposed to be in the middle of the text, this is a page CODE.

All check sums should verify without error (very important)
[SIZE=3]If installing the IOS update: Click "Verify Sums" again, Verify IOS UPDATE.md5

    Cheers,

Check my signature for directions on how to generate and post a syscheck. Let's see what your system looks like.

Ok, before I start, A Big HUGE thanks for a superb guide and fantastic support (and apologies for not saying so before now).
I have used this guide for my own Wii, and my siblings'. It's been great to be able to use the little wii as a media box & stream stuff all over the house (the little box that could) and it has seriously saved my brother having to buy any more replacement Mario Kart / Lego Batman discs that his kids just kept getting *stuff* all over
    ...anyway moving on...

Now, I have done something very silly....
For one of these systems, I have lost the nand.bin & keys.bin backups. It is softmodded up to date with this (latest) "softmod any wii guide" (May 2014).
I really, REALLY wish I had burned a disc or drop-boxed them - for each system - Guess what I'm doing now?
So, How can I go about re-creating a (clean) nand.bin and keys.bin for this system. I am prepared to remove whatever is necessary then re-install back.

    - Edit
I'm just wondering, could I just use BootMii to create a new keys.bin and nand.bin (with mods) then from the wii remove some of what is on the nand (savegames, Miis, a couple of VC games).
Still, I would like a clean 'virgin' nand.bin backup.

A fresh backup with mods are fine if you want to redo the guide and stop at chapter 1. Though I wouldn't recommend trying to unmod it just for the sake of backup to remod again.
