So I have an issue with my reset button being broken, it is loose and does nothing when I press it. This becomes an issue at the Priiloader step. I was wondering how neccessary the priiloader step is or if there is any way to bypass the reset button part to start up priiloader. My wii is on 4.3u and it has already been softmodded but I have issues with the USB loader GX going to a black screen when I try to play a game. I use WBFS manager to format and load my HDD drive with wii games and it was working fine yesterday. So I decided to follow this guide rather than a video I saw on youtube.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are currently on System Menu version 3.4, or 3.1 or less, Priiloader will not work. In this case, you should immediately go back and complete the 4.1 upgrade instructions located directly above. As stated, Priiloader is important, you need it!

Normally we do not recommend installing a beta, however Priiloader is a must have for any modded Wii! Since 0.7 is not compatible with the TR motion plus remotes, we have decided to include 0.8 beta 4 for those who do not have access to an older Wii remote. If possible, we recommend installing 0.7. If you have a TR remote and do not have access to a non-TR remote, install 0.8 beta 4.
Installation instructions are the same for both versions.
How can I tell if I have a TR remote?

You should be in the Homebrew Channel
Launch Priiloader (the first one is 0.7, the second 0.8 beta 4)
    Priiloader Installer will load
    Read the warning-
    Press +/A to install
When finished the HBC should load.
Hold reset on the wii console, keep holding reset - priiloader will load
****If the wii freezes, hold the power down for 10sec.****
****Only install priiloader once, you need to hold reset to load priiloader****

You can make a NAND backup through bootmii. But you NEED a GC controller for that since your reset button doesn't work. And I'm pretty sure you could also use another persons NAND backup, I could try to send you my backup if you'd like. It would give you Homebrew Channel, and bootmii as IOS. but you would need a GC controller to restore the backup if you ever need to.

and I'm not too sure what the priiloader does, but I guess it really helps your wii in a sense of bricking, so I would say YES, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Note: disregard portion above in red, very bad and wrong advice --- nightstah

You can also access priiloader from the home menu of CFG. So you can access it to do the config for update-proofing the system without the need for the reset button.

Yeah I have a GC controller so the nand part has already been taken care of. So I can access priiloader from CFG USB Loader? I don't have that on my wii currently, I have USB Loader GX, but I'll go ahead and add that.

    Question

hello, I am in need of some help. I haven't modded a wii in 2-3 years. a friend just asked me to do there's and I am totally lost. I have a black wii running 4.3u, I have homebrew channel installed. so I got to chapter 2 part 1. downloaded the modpack and the shopping channel and put on the sd card. but when I launch HBC I see 3 icons and I didn't see one that said WAD Manager. I then installed wad manager 1.7 on the sd card, i started that up and then i picked to load ios249 when it gets to the next screen. says nand disabled, I hit "A" and the controller turns off... i can't get past this. I tried YAMMN or something but after i launched that i didn't know what to do so I stopped please advise.

    Thanks

Are you trying to brick your friend's Wii???? Haphazardly following instructions could do that. Nowhere in this guide does it tell you to use wad manager 1.7 or yawmm. You need to read the guide again. It says to launch WiiMod from the HBC, not wad manager. Take your time and go step by step. Don't cherry pick or deviate from the instructions. Bricks happen that way.

    Hi all

Great guide there. I modded my wii ages ago but never really installed a brick blocker so I decide to finally get around doing that and while at it why not update the whole thing so I am planning on following the guide top to bottom.

I was wondering if it would be OK to simply skip Chapter 3 of the guide entirely? Ultimately my goal is to get the wii up to date in terms of softmod and then install the latest configurable usb loader and a forwarder channel (and any other apps I am interested in) but I'd prefer to do that manually myself and if I understand correctly that last chapter is just installing forwarder channels and apps.

Chapter 3 is just installing a base set of apps for people who may not know what apps they want.

If you know what you want and where to get them, skipping chapter 3 is fine.

    Great.

What about replacing WiiBoot at the beggining with the latest 1.2 instead of the 1.1 found in the guide? I don't directly see how it would impact anything but since I am outdated on the scene I might as well ask.

    Update:

I notice that the wads for all the forwarders are installed on chapter 2 of the guide. Could someone confirm for me I can delete the following wads before starting part 1 of chapter 2:

    Neogamma_Forwarder_Channel _NEOF_249.wad
    USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_4_0_AHBPROT.wad
    USBLoaderCFG - UCXF - IOS58 v10.wad
    Wiiflow-FIX94v11forwarder-DWFA.wad

Alternatively I'd like to know if it's safe to install the USBLoaderCFG forwarder given the fact that I already have 1 installed for the version I use (From the USB)?

It would be nice if the guide would have that as a separate optional section as I am mostly interested in getting the proper mods in place and the rest of the app installation I can do myself.

    Update 2:

I went ahead with the installation. I did replace BootMii from the guide with 1.2 and also I ran all wads and had no issues with my already installed configurable usb loader. I skipped chapter 3 and immediately after I was done with Chapter 2 I uninstalled the 3 forwarder wads I did not need (Usb Loader GX, Wiiflow and Neogamma). I did the full thing (ios update and going from 4.0e to 4.1e as instructed in the guide) and had no issues with the process.
