    Hi,

I have followed the guide step by step and all parts have been done correctly but when I have finished and try to load any of the apps (usb loader gx, wiiflow etc.) it just returns to the main menu?

    What is causing this?

Are you trying to load them from Wii Menu? You probably did not install the contents of App Pack in chapter 3 correctly.

Are you trying to load them from HBC? Post a syscheck

    Hi llafer,

Yes I am trying to run them from Wii Menu.

I installed the App Pack as noted in the guide?

They are not showing in HBC? Should they be?

Sorry I don't know how to post a syscheck

    Ok! Nice !

    1) Do i have to format the SD card using the "Full Erase with overwrite" option? Or "Full Erase without overwrite" ?

    2) How do i discover my correct region ?

    3) Just to make sure: my wii is 4.3U so, the correct method for loading the hackmii installer is the "4.3-LetterBomb - No Game Dic Required" ?

    Edit:

    4)
I think that the "Softmod ANY wii guid" is outdated, because i just checked this site: http://bootmii.org/download/ and it is saying:
    "
HackMii Installer v1.2is capable of installing:
    BootMii 1.5
    The Homebrew Channel 1.1.2"

This guide is teaching us to install HBC 1.1.0 but not 1.1.2, so it`s outdated ?

If you go to this site too: http://hackmii.com/ ... it says:

    "Update:
Unfortunately some bugs snuck into the v1.1 release, which are now fixed in v1.2:

PAL 50Hz (576i) video mode now works properly
BootMii/boot2 can be installed again on newer Wiis
Icons load again in The Homebrew Channel"

So why does this guide do not teach to install the HBC 1.1.2 version? Its because this version is unstable or something?

Yes. They should appear in HBC. So based on that, what I said is still valid:

    1) Full Erase with overwrite makes sure that any bad sectors are marked as such so won't be used when you copy the installer to it.

    2) You answered it in your question 3. If you have a 4.3U system, "U" is the region (North America)

    3) That's correct.

    4) We are looking into getting the guide "more current", but it isn't ready for public consumption yet. The original thought was for Wiis, there is nothing significant between 1.1.0 and 1.1.2. The only difference is for vWii in Wii U's. For the longest time, letterbomb would supply the 1.1.0 installer so it fit just fine with our philosophy. Recently, letterbomb changed to include the 1.1.2 installer. I think the guide has been modified (or will be) to suggest you tell letterbomb to not include the hackmii installer and we give you a link to use so it is still 1.1.0, since we also have links to 1.1.0 bootmii. Problems have occurred when versions are not the same between HBC and bootmii. The updated guide will clear this up and move everything to 1.1.2, but until then, we are still suggesting that 1.1.0 be used on Wiis.

Thanks for the enlightening answer llaffer.

I think i was going to the wrong way i mean, after doing this:

"Chapter 1-Installing The HomeBrew Channel and Bootmii
Read the guide at least 3 times - don't take the chance on forgetting a step!
Have 350 free blocks of nand space
Remove all GC controllers, GC memory cards, USB devices
    Don't lose power
    Format SD-CARD to FAT32
Use a standard SD-Card, 1-2g (SanDisk is good)
If you have any issue, try to format with this format tool
If needed, use 7-zip to extract archive files. "

I need to Launch Hackmii Installer. But what i need it's to remod my wii, in other words... update my softmod because my mod is too old... then i need to do this part first: "softmods with HOMEBREW CHANNEL installed" ( my current HBC is 1.0.8 ) and not the part that i was saying last post: "4.3- LetterBomb- No Game Disc Required".. am i correct? just to make sure... got my first wii last week so this is the first time that i am doing this... i want to start everything carefully and slowly.

To sum up, my next step is to do this?

"Softmods with HOMEBREW CHANNEL installedIf you already have a softmod with HBC installed, you can update your softmod with this guide.

Note: 4.3 wiis can skip installation of ios58 and 61, and simply load Hackmii from the HBC. ===== My Wii is 4.3U

First, backup and Format your SD card.

    System Menus 3.2 - 4.3
    Extract WiiMod-58-61_Hackmii_1.1.0 to sd:\
    Load the HomeBrew Channel
Launch WiiMod - WiiMod will load
    -Select Wad Manager -Press A
-Press 1, -press A -Install all wads
    -IOS58 and IOS61 will install
    -Press "any button" to continue
-Exit WiiMod to go back to the Homebrew Channel
    -Select hackmii_installer_v1.0 - Press A to Launch
    -Hackmii Installer Loads"

    I have a doubt in Chapter 1 Part 2:

    1) It is saying for me to do this: "Install Bootmii as Boot2(boot2 may not be available, IOS installs automatically)"

I have read many times in other sites something about boot2 and blablabla... but i am now confused cause i don't know what is the correct information.

What i mean is: How will i know if my wii is able to have bootmii as boot2 or if my wii is just able to have bootmii as IOS. What is better (bootmii as boot2 or bootmii as ios) and why ?

    2) After this line: "Install Bootmii as Boot2(boot2 may not be available, IOS installs automatically)"

The guide says to me to do this: "Prepare the SD-card" so, what i need to do is: after installing HomeBrew Channel and Bootmii as boot2, i need to turn off the wii, unplug my SD card and re-format it? is this what prepare SD card means?

Later, there is a line: "If Step1 fails with error 'no vulnerable ios'" DO THIS.... what is the Step1 ?

    Good questions.

You can choose to letterbomb or start with the "softmods with HOMEBREW CHANNEL installed". Both will get you to the same place via different means. Since you already have HBC, that will be the easier route.

Since you already have 4.3, you can go right into the hackmii installer from HBC since you already have the two IOSs installed (no harm in reinstalling them, it will just overwrite anything that may exist in their places).

For your part 2 questions, if you have an old system (launch through sometime in 2007), it is possible to install bootmii via boot2. If you have the option, do so. If it doesn't give you that option, you will only see "install as IOS", then install it that way. If you don't have the option, it just means that the system is not a launch model and the exploit in the boot1/boot2 to allow this has been patched at the manufacturer's level. There is nothing you can do to activate boot2 install anymore. So don't try.

Once you get into the hackmii installer to install HBC, you will see an option "Prepare the SD Card", select it. it will copy files to the SD card needed to launch BootMii from HBC to make the NAND backup.

And for your last question, I think if you don't see an option to install bootmii anywhere, you could then see the "No vulnerable ios" message instead. If you see that, then click on the link "DO THIS" and do what it says. I'm not sure what it will have you do, it's been a while since I've looked at it, but it's something that happens very rarely.

Hi everyone, I'd like to start off by saying thank you to the authors who created this guide...it is of tremendous help!

I'm in a strange predicament. I bought a used Wii in hopes of soft modding it, but when I connected I found that it had already been softmodded...although it seems like the previous owner never fully finished. The Wii came with an SD card in it already, but it's only ~470mb...and I remember reading that you need at least 1-2g to softmod...so I'm guessing that's why he never finished. Anyway, I am stuck at this portion of the guide...

    Softmods with HOMEBREW CHANNEL installed

If you already have a softmod with HBC installed, you can update your softmod with this guide.

Note: 4.3 wiis can skip installation of ios58 and 61, and simply load Hackmii from the HBC.

First, backup and Format your SD card.
The wii is 4.3U, and when I open the homebrew channel, hackmii is nowhere to be found. If it is supposed to be loaded through launching bootmii, whenever I try to the wii turns off and the disc tray flashes blue for the longest time. I'm wondering since I have no idea what the previous owner was able to accomplish, should I just skip to the Letterbomb method and softmod my wii that way?
