So I'm stuck on Chapter 1, part 2. I installed HBC with success but when I go to install BootMii as boot2 it says "Mounting SD card... FAILED (-1)." I apologize if a solution for this problem is already somewhere in the forum (1700 pages is a lot to read). But any help would be appreciated.

The guide tells you twice not to ever update from Nintendo. Made it more readable above. Re-read the guide until you know what you are doing before setting off on it. It's not hard. And all the info & more is included in the guide or in this thread.

nightstah said: BootMii is "picky" about SD cards. -1 error means incompatible SD card. You must use a standard SD card, 2gb or less. Not a MicroSD w/SD adapter, nor a SDHC. Format it FAT32.
Check your old camera's for a old 1-2GB SD card. That's what I use when modding/updating my Wii.

I have a ton of micro SD cards (that's what I was using) and the only regular SD card I have is 128 MB hahaha. I guess I'm making a trip to the store. Thanks though.

You might get lucky trying different brand / age micro's just for fun. The SD thing is just for the parts with BootMii. The 128MB SD should be big enough to install stuff. The only problem I for see is the SD card not being big enough to back up your NAND. They take up about 560MB's. But if you already have your NAND then you should be fine.

Hey now. I meant no disrespect. I intend to read it the required 3x, but what if I'm confused during the first time around?

The guide says first that "There is absolutely no reason to "virginize" your Wii in order to apply a new softmod."

But then it later says "If you dont know which guide you followed or if you followed any other guide other than this guide, you should do Chapter 1, 2, 3, step by step", and goes on to explain that basically there is no way to support all the cockimany variations of the hack that have existed out there (which is fair and understandable), so basically it seems like you have to do the whole thing from scratch as if it wasn't there anyway. My assumption (which may have been incorrect), is that you should be starting with a clean update of the version you intend to use. But it doesn't say that, or does it say I shouldn't, hence my confusion at this point.

Are you saying that the system will be updated as part of the install regardless of what version I am currently on? Because that isn't obvious at this point in the reading either.

If you have HBC channel installed, please follow my advice.

Edit: note in your case, since you're @ 3.4 System Menu there's a section about downgrading/upgrading to System Menu 4.1 --- that applies in your case (Priiloader support).

Hi, apologies if it's already been covered but I followed all the steps to the letter AND IT WORKED... apart from a message in the Wii system menu saying the Wii had ran out of memory; and it wouldn't let me go any further. So I followed through and got to the Data Manager thingy and deleted some files.... some were by-products from games I hadn't played for years so maybe it was meta data that the game generated... anyway deleted those with no obvious ill-effect.
Just wondered what might have caused the "gitch".
Mabe it was saved data about games I had previously played- like high scores and such? But then why should installing priiloader have this effect?

    EDIT:
Perhaps installing the Wiibrew channel then all the wads could have overloaded the Wii's internal memory?

P.S.I didn't update the Wii shopping channel and now I want to- how do I run the Wiimod wad manager?

P.P.S. I got the "update" to work- but it doesn't look any different! I think I already had the latest version since I am running a Wii v4.3e

    @Baby:

A lot of things could account for lack of memory. Games from the Wii Shop install onto the NAND. The internet channel installs onto the NAND. Game saves install onto the NAND. Skipping steps (which is what your post suggests about the Wii Shop Channel) isn't advised and directions are in the guide. SNES also maintains a separate guide on this topic here - have a look.

Hi nightstah, thanks for your help. I got YouTube to install but now I want to delete it because it is on the SD card and I want it on the Wii (I have made enough space for it.) The icons in the Data Manager look like stubs. Some are not actual programs.
