There's nothing wrong with ModMii, and we do have a guide for that here as well. That being said, the focus on wiihacks has always been the guide you posted your question in. We have on occasion fixed a mess made with ModMii in terms of the end product. I'm sure in such cases more the user fail than the actual product.

In terms of actual support, you will get far better support on wiihacks for this guide than ModMii. Not sure what else to tell you, two different approaches to the same thing is the bottom line.

Are you asking if the "Usb Loaders" can berelocated to the USB instead of operate off the SD?
If so then my answer is I think Homebrew has an option for usb app execution so yes..I think.
Yes! That's what I want to know. So the Homebrew channel can load games through USB without the SD Card being present? In that case, I can do away with the card after the initial install?

What other things might I need the SD Card for?

Also a quick question, will I be able to play NTSC games on a softmodded PAL Wii?

    1. Is it necessary for the SD Card to be always present when the games are being loaded using the USB Flash Drive?

    2. If Yes to Quesiton-1, can the the SD Card function be relegated to the USB Flash Drive which would also load the Game ISO's?

    3. After moddin using this guide, can I use WBFS Manager to load/delete game ISO's on USB Flash Drive?

    Thanks.
    1) If your USB drive is FAT32 formatted, you can copy your apps from SD to USB and have HBC look there for your apps instead of SD. If you have your apps run from SD, the SD card needs to stay in the system.

    2) I already sort of said yes and gave the conditions required for this to work.

    3) You shouldn't be using WBFS if your USB drive is FAT32. There is also Wii Backup Manager that will do the same thing and works fine for FAT32 drives. Optimally, you should be installing your disk-based games directly to USB through the USB loader. See the FAT32 guide linked in my signature for more information on how you can load games to USB.

Yes, but you will have to make game-specific settings to the video output settings inside the loader to force video output to PAL. You may need to use component video for this to work, I've heard of some problems with AV cables that forcing video output doesn't always work.

@srh1622: The only thing (but very necessary) in my view "elaborate" is the pain in the ass that is formatting and copying stuff to your SD card three different times --- but that's just me

@crisender: Not necessarily. If you follow the FAT32 guide on this site and setup the proper configuration in settings, then you can pretty much get away from the SD card (for the most part, but not in all cases).

If you haven't eyeballed this, perhaps you should as well.

I checked it out. Can you tell me what do you mean by "setting up proper configuration in settings"?

Also, did I get this right; if you have a Wii with BootMii as IOS & it is is bricked, the only way to
unbrick is to carry the NAND backup to a Wii Repair guy for NAND programming?

I used this thread about 3 years ago to get Homebrew on my Wii. http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

    My system version is 4.1u.

I wanted to update to the latest version but I can't figure out how to upgrade (The Nintendo Official Update fails everytime with error code 32077 or something).

Could someone point me in the right direction to upgrade from 4.1u to the latest version?

    Thank you.

You don't really want to update the menu to 4.3. All 4.3 adds compared to 4.1 is additional methods of anti-modding (which did work, as bannerbomb doesn't work, but also opens up the letterbomb exploit.

So we don't suggest that you update to 4.3. If you want to make sure your IOS and cIOSs are current, you can always go through the latest version of the guide on page 1 of this thread and remod your system from the top, down.

Don't uninstall, don't format, don't delete anything. Just remod it on top of whatever state it currently is in. If you still have HBC working, you can start at that point in Chapter 1 Part 1 for systems with HBC installed, if not, you will have to bannerbomb it again.

You likely can't run the Nintendo Update due to priloader, which means it is doing what it is designed to do. You don't want to run Nintendo's update on a modded system as you have a small risk of bricking your system. If it isn't bricked, it will at least remove a good chuck of the mod and it would have to be remodded anyway.

Thank you very much. The only thing I really wanted to take advantage of was the new Official YouTube app. I couldn't access the Nintendo Store (Wii Shop Channel?) because it wants me to update my system. :/

Which essentially means you didn't follow this guide. I suggest you do this guide. If you refuse, then I'd refer you to this.
