Sounds like you didn't extract the app pack correctly. The root of your SD card should have an apps folder in it. Example: SD/apps/usbloader_gx/boot.dol

Hi, I would like to thank Guides Bot and whoever took their time for writing out a detailed guide. Most of my games do work, but I do have issues with games not from Japan. I have a ntsc-j wii on firmware 4.1 and for games not from japan, my wii will load a black screen with the lights on the bottom of my controller blinking. If anybody has any suggesting, please let me know and thank you!

Edit: Okay, turns out it was 2tb external hard drive causing this issue. I decided to try a 8gb flash drive and those problematic games just works.

Hey guys i need some more help. when you do the nand backup, where is it stored? and also im trying to get other region VC games, is there a guide for this as well? If i have to do a Nand backup again while its softmodded, that means i wont have my wii back to factory defaults would it?
    Thanks

Your NAND will be store on the root of your SD card as NAND.bin and keys.bin. You'll copy those 2 files plus the /BootMii folder to your PC or somewhere else for safe keeping in case you need them.

If you do another NAND backup after softmoding you'll still have your "factory" original NAND as long as you don't overwrite it. If you mean will the NAND backup reset your settings somehow, no. NAND backup is simply copying all the data on the Wii's internal 512mb memory into a .bin that can be used to restore the system if something ever goes wrong such as a banner brick.

Well nothing did go wrong but i was lucky enough that i found it on my computer because it wasnt on my memory card anymore.
The bootmii folder only has 3 files in it right? armboot.bin, bootmii.ini and ppcboot.elf
im going to look for a VC guide, thanks for the help, i might make a 2nd NAND backup just in case something does happen in the future

Hi guys, wondering if anybody could help with a peculiar problem. I used this guide before with a 32gb SDHC (all I had handy) with no problems.

Modding another Wii now with a 4gb card and i've gotten to Chapter 2. Checksums were all verified, files were all on SD card. Launched Wiimod > Wad Manager > batch install > installed first 2 WADS and then returned an error.

Now, no matter what I do - replace files on SD Card or format SD card, whenever I launch Wii Mod and go to WAD Manager, the only thing that shows up in the directory are the Apps and Wad folder and Installing All Wads doesn't do anything.

    Any ideas? Appreciate the help.

While SDHC cards can sometimes work, there is a reason we don't recommend their use. If you haven't already, you could try reformatting your existing card using the panasonic SD formatter. It sounds crazy, but it has yielded positive results in many cases.

If that fails, your best bet is to find/borrow/ascertain a 1 or 2 gig SD (NOT SDHC) card & try with that. Once softmodded, using SDHC is fine for everything else.

Hi, I have a question regarding my hard drive and USB Loader GX. I followed this guide exactly but my hard drive doesn't get detected when loading USB Loader GX--it freezes on the "initializing USB device" step of the loading screen. My hard drive is listed on the USB compatibility list as working (Toshiba 1 TB Canvio Portable HDTC610XK3B1). The hard drive only works if I leave it unplugged and plug it in when the loader searches for a hard drive. Is there any way to fix this so I do not have to play the plug/unplug game?

Also, one more question. It seems as though I cannot use any backups that are more than 4 GB on my FAT partition. I am able to split the files with Wii Backup Fusion and Wiij Manager, but when I go to play them on LoaderGX I am returned to the Wii homescreen. Any solution for this as well?

Thanks for all the help, you guys are great!

Install d2x v9 from the d2x cios installation guide linked to below in my sig. That possibly could fix your HDD issue. As far as those two apps, Im assuming you are using a mac? If so I cant give any help on that one, PC user here.
