The tutorial speaks for itself. It can be done as-is, it will OVERWRITE any old, outdated, or otherwise questionable softmod.

Absolutely. Spent the last two evenings modding my two Wiis - one was modded about 3 years ago, and got updated which disabled the modding, and one that was factory-fresh. Following the tutorial carefully, I had no missteps and both modded perfectly.

OK, I had one misstep - the tutorial isn't clear about the fact that only one of the two USB ports will work for an external hard disk. I spent half an hour trying to figure out why none of the loaders could see my hard disk, until I happened to stumble across a mention while I was desperately googling. Plugging into the correct port, everything popped up and worked perfectly.

Thanks to all the people who put the code together and worked to perfect the tutorial. I (and my kids) appreciate it.

    Hi guys!

While softmoding a Wii using this guide at the part of the NAND Backup I had 1 bad block.
I was hoping that when it started verifying it would correct it but it didn't. Also this message appears in the log at the end:

    "Factory bad block 360
    Backup Complete."

Is there any problem with this? And is it safe for me to continue the softmod?

    Thanks for any help!

One bad block is the best set of memory that I've ever seen.

It is normal to have a few bad blocks. Someone did the math and it was something like 80 bad blocks or less was condidered "acceptable" by the factory.

So if you only have one. AWESOME!

It overwrites any IOS/cIOS's you have installed. That's the mod.

Our current version may install new channels, but won't do anything with any old channels. If you want those deleted, you'll have to do that manually through the Data Management -> Channels section of the Wii Settings.

My non-boot2 Wii has ZERO bad blocks. My boot2 Wii like 16.
