Hi

I have just started softmodding my old wii.

I have done the steps up till the installation of the IOS update.

MY wii has SM 3.1u and I am wanting to upgrade to 4.1u as per the guide

Downgrade to/Upgrade to/Install System Menu v4.1 (Optional, but Recommended!!)

but clicking on System Menu-4.1u-449 - USA which has the link below returns with 404 or "Invalid Forum specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"

http://www.wiihacks.com/redirect-to/...bdh3qz8s3s6k26

I have read that it is important to upgrade to 4.1 however, it seems that the link is dead. If you can help me to locate the link, it would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

I posted a reply a while ago but it seems to have not been posted, silly me.

Anyways, I have started to softmod my wii using this great guide. I was able to complete up until the point where I install the IOS update.

I stopped at the one below as I have SM 3.1u and I want to update to 4.1u.

Downgrade to/Upgrade to/Install System Menu v4.1 (Optional, but Recommended!!)

I click on the link System Menu-4.1u-449 - USA

but it does not work and arrives at this error

"Invalid Forum specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"

If you can help me sort or locate the link, it would be truly appreciated.

Cheers

Install Bootmii as BootMii as IOS
its is asking for SD card
fails to mount SD card

?
never mind i figured it out
the little lock tab was set to lock on the sd card, thus making it unusable.

Tried to search for this but couldnt locate an answer (sorry if overlooked it)

I am still a noob at this but wanted to update WiiFlow to the latest 4.1.1 and in the guide on the WiiFlowWiki4, it says I must install d2x-v8 Final or dx2-v9-beta(r49)FIX.

If I followed the new v13 guide by mauifrog, do I need to still install the dx2 versions that the guide is referring to? Just trying to be safe and not brick anything, thanks!

Unable to use option (1) Install all wads in folder

Hi, am new here. Right now, i'm at Chapter 2: Hacking your Wii Part 1: Install WADS.

The steps I'm at:
Launch the Homebrew Channel, then launch Wiimod.
-Use the d-Pad on your Wii remote to scroll down to Wad Manager.
-Press A to select.
So after this, it shows [+] sd:/wad:
>> [apps] <DIR>
[wad] <DIR>
So i press (1) on my Wii remote to Install all wads in folder but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
I already followed all the steps before this. I extracted the modpack and shopping channel directly to the sd card and verify sums through md5summer.exe with 0 errors.

Help, anyone?
Thanks in advance.

If you have a wad directory in your wad folder, then you unzipped ModPack.zip incorrectly

I would start over with Chapter 2: reformat the SD card, redownload ModPack.zip, and extract it to the root of the SD card.

Be sure to run md5summer before trying to install anything to check that all md5 hash checks pass.

Firstly, thanks so much for the guide. I was intimidated when I first looked all of this up and saw the guide, but following it step-by-step, it was very easy. One of the last steps though, for installing WiiMC to the main menu, did not work for me:

If you would like to add a forwarder channel (in order to run it from the main Wii menu) download THIS and extract it directly to your sd card. Launch the Homebrew Channel and run "WiiMC Channel Installer". Source HERE, WiiHacks Guide HERE.
I launch Homebrew and run the installer, but when the popup comes up asking me if I want to install this channel, I get stuck. Two options come up- install or cancel, but I can't select either one. None of the buttons on the Wii remote do anything, and neither does pressing any of the buttons on the system, other than holding down power to restart it. Any idea why I can't select "install?" The bottom if the screen says "Running IOS: 58," if that makes any difference. Also, does a forwarder channel mean that this will then be able to run without the SD card in the wii, or it still requires the card, it just places the channel launcher in the system so you don't have to boot Homebrew?

And one more question- I see the link to a guide to using an external drive to load games. I have one, and will have to read through it in more detail later and try it out. But I was also wondering, is it possible to just load the games onto my SD card and run it from there instead? I googled around a little, but there are different answers.
