Hi All, I have read the guide several times trying to get my head around it (new arrival to the wii world here)

I just got a second hand Wii (old model) and it comes with HBC already there, so with the help of NightStash, I think what I have to do is the following: (but still have some quiestions)

    Chapter 1
1 - Launching the Hackmii: I do not need to use the letterbomb or anything because I already have the HBC installed, si I just use HBC to launch Kackmii. Easy į
2 - Within Hackmii install HBC (again? is this to update?) AND BootMii (as Boot2)

Question: To prepare the SD card... do I have to format it again?

3 - In HBC I run BootMii and make a NAND backup

Then I would do Chapter 2...

Can I stop here or do I have to go all the way through? I am still after a compatible usb hard drive

Another thing, there are several stops that use stuff from apps folder... is it good idea to get everything there? or should I do it bit by bit, fill it with the needed stuff, run it, then for the following step clear and format and copy the relevant files in (the required ones for the following step)

I do not want to pretend being clever and screwing it up big time... so unless otherswise described, I will do it step by step... carefully and slowly doublechecking everything

Thanks in advance for your insigh

    1) Yes

    2) Yes and Yes

    3) Hell, Yes!

    Chapter 2-

No. Go all the way through. Just updating HBC is not "modding" your system. That happens in Chapter 2 when you install the cIOS/IOS/Shop Channel/Menu 4.1 from .wads as directed to do in this chapter.

I'm not sure what you mean after "another thing", but if you are saying you have content on your SD card that you don't want to lose, then back up that data onto your computer so you can format it properly for the modding process. When done, you can restore your backed up data to the SD card and the Wii will never even know you changed it. It is best to make sure the SD card is clean and formtted when the guide tells you to have your SD card clean and formatted.

ok, this is one of the best written and easiest to follow guides i've ever used. i last modded 3 years ago, which i barely remember, and i'm just glad the guide took into account any situation.

my kids can now play the skylander game we just bought, and another game i bought a year ago finally plays, lol.

    thanks again!

if you are talking about Chapter 1, part 2, i too was confused by this, but "prepare the SD card" is actually an option on the menu you will be on. it's not a generic instruction.

yeah, extract the files to SD, install, then format, then extract to SD, install, then format, just like the guide steps you through.

OK, so for clarification: you want it to auto-boot HBC, or you want it to boot to the System Menu? You can manipulate this via Priiloader (hold down on the reset button when you power up your Wii). In the options presented, you can have AUTOBOOT: System Menu or HBC. Change to tastes, scroll to bottom (of Priiloader menu) and select save.

Thanks for the clarification, not run anything yet so I didn't know it was an option during the process

I will be a good boy and follow the guide step by step. There is a lot of effort put onto it and, by the length of the thread, it has been a successful story for most people (and probably those that did not get it right was due to missreading)

Thanks guys! I will give it a go this week, if you do not hear from me is becasue it was another success

EDIT: [update] it worked like a charm! I even added the DIOS MIOS and I am able to play gamecube backups too! I am loving it!

Cjizzle, it is as simple as replacing the updated app pack on the SD card?.. or should the whole guide be redone to apply all the updates properly..

Sorry for the newb question.. this would b my first update since remodding to this version (which has worked well for me so far)..

    Thanks

Nothing in the modpack has changed since v12, so yes you can simply extract app pack v5 directly to your sd, overwriting files when asked. Up to you if you want to update the shop channel and add IOS62. If you do, you can skip the rest and just do that section.

    Cool

Hello guys! I finally got my first Wii (4.3E) and I wanted to mod it but, unfortunately, I got stuck.

I managed to install HBC and Bootmii following some other guide and made backup. Than I found this guide and last thing i've done is this: https://sites.google.com/site/comple...s/installation

And then I finally found yours magnificent guide and I followed it step by step from the beginning. Installed HBC, Bootmii, made backup, downloaded Modpack.zip and IOS Update.zip, launched Wiimod and installed all wads (30+25). Than I got to a Priiloader and the trouble started. In the HBC i only see Priiloader 0.7 and, if I understand correctly, there should be second one, version 0.8 beta 4.
I have controllers with motion plus so I can not install 0.7 version.

When I try to install it from Wiimod it shows an error: using non-valid IOS(236), aborting mission.

What can I do? Any help would be much appreciated.

I made pictures of the screen. Hope they will help.
