Ok I have read through the Softmod ANY Wii guide a couple times and I want to make sure I have everything correct and am not missing anything before I start blowing away my Wii. I am upgrading from 4.1 to 4.3 to have all of the available IOS and cIOS. I do not have a NAND backup either.

According to the guide, I have a pre-modded wii with unknown source of instructions, I am not sure if I have a NAND backup either, so I need to follow CH 1, 2, & 3

Since I have an already softmodded wii with Homebrew Channel already installed, I can following these steps

    Extract WiiMod-58-61_Hackmii_1.1.0 to sd:\
    Load the HomeBrew Channel
Launch WiiMod - WiiMod will load
    -Select Wad Manager -Press A
-Press 1, -press A -Install all wads
    -IOS58 and IOS61 will install
    -Press "any button" to continue
-Exit WiiMod to go back to the Homebrew Channel
    -Select hackmii_installer_v1.0 - Press A to Launch
    -Hackmii Installer Loads

Once Hackmii loads will installing HomeBrew Channel and Bootmii from the SD overwrite the existing? Will this mess anything up? Do I need to do a Letterbomb or any disc exploit?

Then I can prepare the SD card.

I can make a NAND Backup
    - launching HBC > Home > Bootmii
    - Press buttons on Wii - Power, Power, Power, Reset, Reset
    - Exit to HBC after backup
    - Copy the files to my PC

Download Modpack + IOS Update + RVL-Shopping-v21 and extract to SD card

    Verify Checksums

Launch Wiimod > Wad Manager > Press 1 > Press A > Make sure its complete without errors

    Select shop channel v21 > Press A > RVL-Shopping v21 > Press A > Press A to install > Press B to go back to WADs

    Select IOS-Update > Press A > Press 1 to install Wads > Press A

If I am already on System Menu 4.1 will I need to follow the Downgrade to/Upgrade to/ Install System Menu v4.1 steps?

    Install beta Priiloader

Depending on Wiimote I need to install either 0.7 or 0.8 beta 4

    Homebrew Channel > Priiloader > Press +/A

HBC should load > Hold Reset > System Hacks > Block updates/Remove disc check/move disc channel

    Change boot option

    Format SD > Extract AP-V4

If I followed everything correctly, I should be on System Menu 4.3u with all cIOS & IOS to be completely current until another big patch or whatever.

Did I leave out a step at all?

Is it possible to move everything from my wii, like purchased WiiWare to my USB drive and launch them from the USB Drive?

Wow, thats a book there...where to start...
-First, you are not upgrading to 4.3, you staying at 4.1. IOS are independent of the system menu version. Nintendo just includes them together.
-Yes, Homebrew Channel and bootmii will be overwritten with the versions in this guide. It will not mess up anything. No, you dont need to follow any exploit.
-No need to follow the 4.1 installation part (you already have it)
-No you will not be on system menu 4.3, you will be on 4.1, and you should stay there.

In other words...just follow the guide LOL. Dont try to make your own version of it, just do what it says.

Is it possible to move everything from my wii, like purchased WiiWare to my USB drive and launch them from the USB Drive?
Yes, but right now you should get your Wii modded first (successfully) and then move on to the more advanced stuff (Nand emulation is what its called)

Yeah, sorry about the book. The Wii is technically my wife's and i want to make absolute certain that I'm not missing anything or doing something i shouldn't.

Wasn't trying to make my own version. Just omitting the stuff that didn't apply to me as well as ask questions that came up during my reading.

I was a bit confused with the but about not upgrading to 4.3, but makes perfect sense now that I know the system menu and IOS are separate from one other.

Once I have the Wii up to date will the WiiWare work like it always has (from the Wii) or will I need to do NAND emulation?

Everything will operate normally, you will just get some extras . Nand emulation is like having a virtual system on your SD/HDD. You can have wiiware and channels on it that you dont have on your regular system menu. Its an entirely separate system menu more or less.

And no probs with the questions . I was scared to death the first time I modded my Wii. But immediately after I thought "Oh, that was easy" lol

    Error installing SMDGZv1.3

When installing the wad files I get an error:

    Error installing SMDGZv1.3
    (-1) Unknown Error
Try with AHBPROT mode or an IOS with the correct permissions.

AHBPROT is already enabled, as displayed in the Main Menu.
Modpack has been downloaded twice and passed checksum both times. Total of 44 files to install, this is the only one that fails.
    Menu version is 4.2E.

    Is it safe to proceed?

You shouldn't be installing 44 wads at one time. It should be broken up based on directory structure, one with 30, one with 25, optional wii shop is a single one, and optional 4.1 menu is 3.

If you have all of them in the same directory, you've set up your SD card wrong, and it shouldn't have passed the md5 check from md5summer, since it also validates dirctory structures.

Thanks. Cleared out the wad folder on the SD card and downloaded zips again. 30 files, plus extra folders. That file must have been an old rogue one. It's not in Modpack so everything has now installed ok.

Glad to hear you got things working. Note that the start of chapters 1 and 2 have you format your card so this exact thing doesn't happen. If you are using your normal SD card with channel / game save data stored on it, you should back up the data first before formatting, then you can restore everything when you are done.
