A link to the new "Softmod Any Wii" guide can be found in my (and most of the staff's) signature.

EDIT: I missed that there was a new page to the thread and didn't know others answered you already.

"Overwrite" message in the guide makes sense if you're working in windows, as that's the prompt. It basically means that both zip fles have a /wads directory in them that will ultimately be all put in the same place when done.

As for an md5 checker for mac, I don't know of one off the top of my head, I'm not a huge mac user. I've only owned one for a few years to learn iOS programming and used it for little else. I'm sure one can be googled. It may not be as 1-step as the windows version, but you can at least generate md5 hashes and compare them to the values in the .md5 file if all else fails (there is a lot of files to check, though. And that md5 checker also ensures that everything is in the same correct directory, as opposed to just being dumped in the same directory (there are other subdirectories of /wad used to keep things separate).

If you have other questions, let us know. I have to run around a bit this morning, but this afternoon, I'll be around and will be able to help more with mac-specific stuff as I'll have time to research it.

I did not notice anything on either wii when I opened them up.

I have played burned copies of Mario Kart Wii and The Sims 3. Just happened to pop it in the wii, saw the disc channel reading it so started the game to see what happened and it played fine. I notice on Mario Kart the intro movie doesn't play perfectly smooth when playing from the burned copy but the game plays fine.
I use to have Cioscorp installed and when I re-did the soft mod ,I was still able to play from the Wii Disc Channel.
Maybe it left some remnants of the cioscorp/darkcorp behind.

I re-did the soft mod a third time and then I was no longer able to load from the Wii Disc Channel.(Back-Ups)
As for seeing if you have a Modchip installed, it should be as easy as opening your wii up and seeing anything out of the ordinary.
But, if everything is working as it should I would not worry about being able to load back-ups from the Disc Channel.

If it ain't broke , Don't fix it.

Thanks. I have access to a Windows machine so I can try the whole process again using that instead of the Mac.

If you downgraded your system menu to 4.1 then it took out priiloader and you will need to re-install priiloader.

Also, I don't believe 0.4 will detect the version of the HBC that this guide installs, so it would probably be wise to update it even if you didn't change the system menu.

Yeah it ain't broke (well I never could get Skywardsword to run properly from USB backup and had to play it from the original disc....having to use discs sucks). I never installed Cioscorp and I never installed a mod chip either.

Some one told me this guide is patching some of the official IOS and because of that "some" games might run in the disc channel from backup. Like I said, I have not tried that many but now I am interested to try some more.

Has anyone else tried to run a burned copy of Mario Kart Wii from the disc channel after using this guide?

I just tried and it and it played right from the Wii Disc Channel.

Also it was a back-up and it had no lag of any sort.

Will try a couple of different back-ups.

I tried Madworld back-up and it was a no go.
