Actually it should be 3.2 - 4.3, and I just fixed it. Thanks for catching that!

Oh, OK. I misread the statement above it that says you don't need the to install IOS61/58, which is why I thought it only needed to be through 4.2. Anyway, keep up the great work on all these guides, you guys.

The best tutorial I've read on hacking the Wii.

Had a 4.3E that had been accidently updated. Followed the instructions & it was good to go again in under 10 minutes.

    Many thanks to all involved.

Ok new here, I followed the guide, I used ios236, then wiimod v3.2. From there I went to wad manage. I then see [wiimod] I go ahead and install that. Next I see usbloadergr_unlr.wad. I Install that as well. I then went back to HBC and started usbloader. I still get "USB device not found. Switching to channel list mode"

If I then try to run "usbloader" I get a black screen

What am I doing wrong? The USB was already formatted and has games on it

Well, if you did all that, you certainly didnt follow this guide according to the instructions. Follow it from beginning to end then post back if you still have issues.

-Extract the files directly to your SD card.
-Using the same method as described above, run MD5 summer to verify the 4.1 md5 file. DO NOT PROCEED if it does not verify!
-Insert your SD card into your Wii and launch the Homebrew Channel.
    -Launch WiiMod
-Scroll down to Wad Manager and press A, WiiMod loads
-Select System Menu-4.1x-xxx and press A.(The x corresponds to your specific system menu region)
-Press 1 to batch install all 3 wads. Press A to confirm. All 3 wads MUST install without error!
!!!IMPORTANT!!! These wads must install correctly! Do not exit if you get errors. In the highly unlikely event you do get errors, post here in this thread. DO NOT shut off your Wii. Wait patiently for an answer!!!
    -----------
I downloaded the System Menu-4.1u-449 - USA files and have followed the instructions carefully. Got an error on the 3rd wad file installation. Here is the error:

    1 error occured...
    Error installing RVL-WiiSystemmenu-v449.wad::
(-1036) Required sysversion(IOS) is not installed.
Try with AHBPROT mode or an IOS with the correct permissions.

    Press any key to continue.

    Wii Mod: v3.2
    System Menu: v3.3U
BootMii boot2v3 installed w/ .nand and .keys backup

I have not powerd off the WII yet and would appreciate advise on how to proceed to fix the issue without bricking.

    Thank you.

EDIT: I got confused, never mind that. I see now that you're trying to update menu, which does have 3 WADs to it.

Did you verify md5? If you did, then did you do the entire ModPack (30 wads) and IOS Pack (25 wads, I think) before attempting the menu update?

If you did all that, then try installing the three wads again. If that still fails, maybe someone else has an idea?

Sounds like you didnt install the modpack successfully. You need to follow all of the steps in this guide in order. Go back and install all wads in the modpack and you will not have this error. More directly, this error means you are missing IOS60, which is installed with the modpack.

Thanks for the prompt response cjizzle and llaffer. I had verified the MD5 and 100% ok. cjizzle was correct with the IOS60. I updated that by checking the return codes from another page and that did the trick. I then re-ran the 4.1 wad update and voila, now on system menu 4.1. I did not follow the complete guide from this site as it was previously modded. But I think the next one I will use this guide. Thanks for your support.

    Kind Regards.

Yeah, and you about bricked your Wii in the process. Let this be a warning for all the noobs out there. Dont start in the middle of a guide (no matter what guide you are following) and expect everything to work right. Epic "Following Instructions" FAIL..
