    Which is much appreciated.

Correct, I used LetterBomb to get started.
From your post I assume Bannerbomb is somehow less tricky.

With SM 4.3, regionfree is no problem because the USB loader takes care of that.
With BootMII installed as boot2 I believe I've got the best brick protection I can get.
If BootMII can't use boot2 I agree SM 4.1 is your best option.

Not to argue, just for better understanding all this.

Incorrect, but reasonable post. LetterBomb exists solely for SM4.3; BannerBomb works on a few SM that are < 4.3 and doesn't require an active internet connection in order to cause a stack overflow (thus allowing for unsigned code to run).

SM4.3 for hardmodders (a rare breed nowadays) prevents out of region playing, whereas you say, for softmodding it's a non-issue.

The best brick PROTECTION you can get (aside from following directions, lol) is Priiloader. BootMii/boot2 is the best brick RECOVERY tool or option you have. Protection and recovery are not the same thing. Certain types of bricks (not full bricks) can be overcome with a System Update via disc or other means. If you're already @ 4.3, there's "nowhere to go" in terms of an update to serve as a method of brick recovery.

There's no added functionality with SM4.3 or 4.2, pure and simply they are viewed as merely further attempts by Nintendo to block what this guide accomplishes (Nintendo will say and for a percentage of the population they'd be correct, for piracy --- but that's not this guide's purpose --- the legitimate ability to play backups when kids tend to break/lose/damage expensive optical discs).

If anyone is wondering...I tried the combination with the PNY micro sd card adapter and the Sandisk 2gb Micr SD Card and it worked. I created the exploit using Wilbrand Launcher though because please.hackmii letterbomb site will just not work for my MAC address prefix. Anyway I did not use the exploit yet cause I just wanted to see if the wii would accept it and it did. One question though...Can I use the exploit at a later date or would I have to create another more recent one? Or would I just have to go back a further on the message date on the wii?

Power = Right, Eject = Left, Reset = Select
Once the backup is complete, exit bootmii to HBC
Backup your Bootmii files to your PC
    sd:\bootmii
    sd:\nand.bin
    sd:\key.bin
    *DO NOT LOSE THESE FILES*
If you want to load bootmii again at a later date, copy the bootmii folder back to sd

    Chapter 2- Hacking your wii

Read this Chapter 3 times, or more.

    Format your SD Card
    Download Modpack Files
Requires a standard SD card, 1-2g scandisk is best. SDHC cards may or may not work, a lot don't. If SDHC doesn't work, don't blame us. Go get an SD...
Have 450 free blocks of nand space
Read the guide at least 3 times.
Remove all GC controllers, GC memory cards, USB devices.
    Don't lose power- Very important
    Password = www.wiihacks.com

    Download the modpack:
    ModPack.zip
Extract the ModPack directly to your sd card.

On part 3 AFTER I back up the Bootmii files to my pc,then they can be deleted from the SD Card? If everything went as planned so far and the backup was made?

And Chapter 2 Download Modpack files, Am I using the same sd card or a completely new/different one? Meaning AFTER I install HBC and Bootmii and have made the nand back up and backed up the files to my pc then I can format and use the same sd card?
Sorry but I have read that part of the guide several times and it does not really specify.

    @Zombie:

Please don't live up to your namesake

Yes, after you safely have backed them up, you can delete them from the card. DO NOT LOSE YOUR BACKED UP NAND and those files. It tells you to FORMAT the card and the guide says you need a full SD card --- not cards

lmao Don't worry I do not intend to "pirate" anything nor do I intend to even hint at it here. I ACTUALLY READ the forum rules lol. I have a 3 and 5 year old and NEED to back up my LEGALLY purchased games and any future games.

On another note...I am running 4.3U would I still need to download the CIOS Pack?

on the guide is says : If you would like to update your Wii IOS:
    Download IOS Update.zip
(If you are on a System Menu version other than 4.3, you need this!)
But I was looking at a video were a person was softmodding his 4.3U MS Wii and said to download the CIOS pack. So in short if my Wii is running SM 4.3U I dont need to download CIOS pack?

Since I'm running 4.3U MS can I downgrade to 4.1? to take advantage of the "few brick fixing options available with SM 4.1 that are not available with 4.2 or 4.3."? or am I good at 4.3U if everything goes well?

    @Zombie:

You're being a Zombie, not a pirate. I don't even understand the latest question as the answer is in the material you quoted. And it's obvious you read my other reply to another user here (helimod), yet you're asking the same thing wherein the answer is already there.

On wiihacks you also read downgrading the SM is a risk as well.
More and more you read it's NOT recommended.
Depending who you ask, some say take the original Nintendo SM 4.3 update and forget about it.

At that point I did not downgrade and left it as is.
With my original SM 4.3E everything is working fine.

Doing a lot of reading I would say change it to not recommended if you can install BootMii as boot2.

    But that is just IMHO.

Thanks for the reply. I just followed the guide and also downgraded to SM 4.1

It all operates on the same principle. Follow the instructions and don't lose power during the process, pretty simple. Anything that was read on this site regarding not downgrading was probably very old. There was a time where downgrading a 3.4 sm to anything lower would brick certain consoles. That does not apply to downgrading any 4.3 to 4.1.

As far as the benefits, 4.1 enables region free disc loading, allows the use of bannerbomb, as well as provides the capability for multiple ways to fix your console (that arent possible with 4.3) should you do something to brick your console.

Those are some of the reasons why we, as avid wii modders, do highly recommend doing the downgrade. Yes it is optional, but if you want added brick protection amongst other things this is definitely the way to go.

Just wanted to make it clear as to why we recommend it

Thanks for the explanation. Crystal clear
