What updated on your system wasn't a new Menu (it is still 4.3U), but a new IOS was installed that the latest version of the Shop Channel (v21) uses as of November 2012. That is what was updated.

No harm, if you did the mod out of the box and updated Shop Channel to v21 through the mod method, you would have installed the new IOS file in the process anyway.

But after you mod, you don't want to update through Nintendo. When you install and configure Priiloader, there are settings you can enable that will block updates from Network and Disk-based updates.
Ok cool thanks that helps and explains a lot...But what does the internet connection do? or what is it used for? To be specific what can I do with it? what are my benefits in having the internet connection active? I'm thinking for use with shop channel, net flix and things like that?

Pretty much anything that you'd use the Internet for on a normal Wii can still be done with a modded one: online gaming in addition to what you said: Netflix (and Hulu Plus, if you're a subscriber to that), and Wii Shop is still available once you update it to v21.

I was going to post this question under the Wii Flow thread, but it is closed... =(

After going through this softmod guide step buy step everything seems to be working perfectly, with only one small exception: In Wii Flow for some reason after loading from the the Wii menu with controller 1, the controller 1 looses primary control, and controller 2 becomes the primary controller capable of commanding Wii Flow. Is there a fix for this?

Do us a huge favor and post the model of your hard drive in the "USB Compatibility" thread so others know which modern drive will work. Many don't. http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...lity-list.html

    Thanks.

I've found that auto acknowledging hard drives doesn't work very well with CFG. I had to tell it exactly how my drive was formatted. FAT, WBFS, NTFS, etc. Once I put "partition = NTFS1" in the config.txt file, all was well. Sorry if this has already been suggested.

I have a PNY micro sd adapter and a 2gb sandisk micro sd card and 2gb transcend micro sd card...will any combination of these work for the Wii? I thought I had an extra 2gb Sandisk sd card but I can't seem to find it.

Give it a try. If they don't work you'll have to buy a Sandisk.

It's just checking at this point if it can be installed via boot2, which it wouldn't be able to, so you have to install it as IOS.

Without BootMii, you can't get a NAND backup, and without that, I wouldn't attempt to do any further modding with your system. BootMii is not recommended, it's required.

Thanks for the advice. You're correct. It's just a test result that Boot2 cannot be installed on my Wii. When I selected BootMii from the HackMii installer, my only option is to install BootMii as IOS. Currently, I'm performing a NAND backup.

    Wii details:
    - White Wii bought Dec 27 2012
    - 4.3u
    - Wii Remote Plus
    - PQI 1GB SD
    - HBC v1.1.0
    - IOS58 v25.32

I've already extracted ModPack.zip and RVL-Shopping-v21.zip directly to SD card
Verified both checksums and so far no errors

Before I install the wads, I've got a question on Downgrading to System Menu 4.1
    - Can I install this later or is it better to downgrade to SM 4.1 right now?

    Thanks
