Had your friend's Wii that threw the -1035 ever been modded before?
Yes it had been modded before, he paid a shop to have it done. He said his son did an upgrade from a game disc and it stopped working so I offered to try to fix it. All I know is it had HBC and a neogamma channel installed (no sd card used) so he could play burnt discs, it didn't appear to have priiloader installed. I assumed it was an old mod so I used this guide from start to finish and got it working for him.

I only modded this wii around the time v21 came out, prior to that it had been sitting in his cupboard for well over a year. When I first did the mod I didn't install v21 straight away, but did install all other wads and downgraded to SM4.1. I then went to the shop channel to see if it would ask to update but it didn't, I thought this was strange because I knew v21 had just been released and couldn't see how this wii could have v21 installed already. Then I tried to upgrade the shop channel and got the -1035. So I removed the shop channel and reinstalled v21.

Maybe whoever did the previous mod manually edited the shop channel version # to a higher # to avoid updates.

First and foremost I wanted to say Thanks.

I'm having an issue with a compatible HD (WD Elements 320gb). I successfully modded my wii 4.3u. All my apps are showing and are in the SD card. But Wii Flow, USB Loader GX & CFG Loader will not read my HD. App starts but returns to system Wii menu. HD works well on my neighbors wii that I soft modded 3 years ago. HD and games load perfectly. Any suggestions?

Assuming there is no issue with the hhd or cable, I would try a different cios, d2x v9 beta or d2x v7. Perhaps d2x v8 does not like your hdd.

Thanks Mauifrog. Do I need to remove d2x v8? I know I'm not suppose to remove any cIOS. I did some googling and found 7 wads for d2x v7.

I installed all 7 files of cIOS249-d2x-v7 successfully and no luck.

Also, just out of curiosity we went ahead an softmodded another wii (black one) on 4.3u and we got the same results. Will not read the USB drive or the HD. We tried NEoGamma and control looses function & freezes. Both wii's have the Motion Plus Inside feature. Thanks!

    That is strange, try v9
    d2x v9(beta49).zip

also try to update to the latest stable version of those usb loaders. One other thought, are you loading the loaders from sd or usb? If usb, try putting the apps on sd. And ensure that the drive is not spinning down and going to sleep. You may want to try another usb cable. Fresh format of the sd card with the panasonic sd formater. If you can you may wish to run a syscheck on the working wii of your friend, and copy his apps off his sd/usb, that may help. Those loaders should work with the motion plus without issue, but if you can you may wish to test on an older wiimote.

For shits and giggles you could take a step back in time and try http://www.mediafire.com/?gmq3esbpog8wiea
It is a good cios, old but good. Probably what your friend has. cios38 r17

Where is this config file supposed to be placed to be read? I am also getting -1035 when I try to update this. I've set the value above to 1 from 0, and changed the default directory from \wad to \wads. When I load Wii Mod, I'm still getting placed in /wad, so I don't think the file that I changed is getting read in. I have a copy of it in my \apps\wiimod directory in addition to \wad (both filenamed wiimod.txt).

    thanks.

May I ask, which section of the GUIDE: was added with statement ?
Or, alert users to read thread #15462 when error-1035 was encountered ?
    Thanks.

The config file is in the apps/wiimod folder. It is already included in the modpack. Check the spoiler in Chapter 2 about how to get around this error.

Just a side note for anyone interested in the technical aspect:
Many people have followed this guide and have had no errors, specifically the ones who's syschecks showed a rev of 65535 on any of their ios/cios. That is why that setting is put into the guide, to overwrite any ios/cios that it needs to, and it has been proven to work. For some reason that I still haven't been able to figure out, it seems to only happen for the shop channel on consoles that have been previously modded, and only for a few people. TBH I haven't gotten that error, and unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce it on my end. If anyone is getting that error, and still happens to have the original wad used to install the shop channel prior to this update, please PM me. Thanks!

That shop wad should be in your mediafire, v20 patched to v54321. You should have no issue installing with ios236 as it has the version patch.
