I believe NeoGamma can be run off USB, I'm not certain how to go about it as I've always preferred to use apps off SD. I would assume all you'd have to do is copy the contents of the SD card to the root of your USB drive, load the HBC and press 1 then choose USB as the load device and it should show all your apps in USB/apps. But again, I've never tried to run apps off USB so I can't say for certain...it won't hurt to try though

    Great guide!
I did all steps carefully for my virgin Wii at 4.3E

However I did get a bit unsure at the step: "Downgrade to/Upgrade to/Install System Menu v4.1 (Optional, but Recommended!!)"
    So I skipped this step.

I also read elsewhere on wiihacks downgrading can be a risk.
So how about this step? Can anyone shed some light on how this works?
Does downgrading the System Menu means it removes some IOS on my Wii?

If I want to do this step AFTER doing the whole guide, is this possible?
The priiloader guide tells me: "Everytime you update, reinstall, remove your system menu priiloader disappears."
    Not something I want.

    Thx.

You need a full channel for that, you can make one or find a pre-made one.

Forwarder is a channel that searches a specified path on the SD/USB device

Full Channel is installed on the Wii and requires no SD/USB to be used. So I believe this is what you are wanting.

You can stay on 4.3 if you like. 4.2 and 4.3 are widely shunned by the wii community as they introduced nothing except homebrew blocking. If you're uncomfortable, skip it. Be sure to install priiloader though.

Full channels (having the entire thing in the NAND) have fallen out of favor. I'm not sure about neogamma, but I don't expect that theres a full channel version available for any recent release. I could be wrong on this... but why not just use an SD card? They're cheap enough......

Thx, priiloader is installed when following this guide.
I guess I stay on 4.3 because I'm not sure what happens if I do this step now.
    (After I finished this guide.)

    Folks,

Its been more than three years (DEC 2009) since I have hacked my wii. Its really awesome to see the community is well alive and kicking.
I have pretty much forgotten what I had done three years back to hack the wii.

Needed some help from you all to check whether I need to do anything now to get my wii updated to the latest versions, if any.

Would really appreciate if somebody pointed me out what do I need to check and what steps to do?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Cheers

What you could do is run sysCheck.
There are a lot of knowledgeable people who can tell if you are missing something.
Below my results from a recent softmod.

    sysCheck

We're not dead yet! Look in the beginning of the guide, I added a big ol' section about this exact topic some momths ago. Look for "Update any existing softmod" and it will give you recommendations. If you're 3 years out of date, you'll def want to update as there have been many advancements.
