    Hi Everyone,

Since softmodding my wii 3-4 years ago it worked like a charm with the backup games on the usb drive (have 3 kids under 10yo) i did a update to the wii 6 -12 months ago and after a week lost all access to the hard drive. i then did some reading and have been using 250GB seagate and western digital and 160GB seagate drives and nothing worked. tried fat32 and wbfs and the hdd's dont get detected anymore. i can play music through the wii using the hdd's but not the games. updated the wii using modmii and no luck
    the hdd's are self powered.

need to get this working again please . . . .

Did you follow pob's fat32 guide to set up your drives? If not you should do so now. After that you may need to delete the config files in your loaders. CFG = settings.cfg, WiiFlow = wiiflow.ini (you also may need to delete the contents of the sd/wiiflow/cache/lists folder), GX = gxglobal.cfg. Then relaunch your loader.

homebrew channel and wiimc can see the drives

done a full uninstall of the softmod, formatted the wii and updated and re softmod following this guide. . . . im really out of ideas on what it could be.

Did you delete the above config files and try loading your apps again?

    Question files over 4gb

First of I want to say awesome guide and worked like a charm, everything works, except this one small issue. I did a few googlesearches about this problem and found nothing. I viewed the first pages and found nothing, then i saw there was 1.5k pages and gave up on reading them all.

Question: How do i make a backup of games that is larger than 4 gb? You constantly said in the guide I should make the format in fat32, but then it can't take files over 4gb. Is there a way for me to backup games and play games that is larger than 4 gb?

    Thanks in advance, Martin.

When you rip the game to the HDD, if it is more than 4 GB, the fat32 drive will split the files accordingly. Try it, and post in the fat32 thread if you have any more issues.

Since using this guide to UPDATE a friend's softmod (done by myself using an earlier version of this guide) his backup discs which previously played ok, no longer play on neogamma R8 or R9. I re-burned a couple for him on Ritek G05 discs and these play ok (although Tintin is very choppy on cutscenes). He doesn't want to use a usb loader as his son is autistic and is used to discs and it would be too much of an upset to him using another system. Is there anything else I need to do to allow the discs to play again?

just check if in neogamma is ios 249 selected. That's the first I would check. It is the most compatative.

Thank you to everyone that has contributed to this guide, I Ran only nto one problem so far let me explain what i did
my newer black wii was on version 4.3u so i used the letterbomb exploit
followed everything in the guide and downgraded to 4.1 u and everything went well.
now the problem im having is when i go to the backup HBC i hit start and i get a message about updatng HBC from 1.0.3 to HBC 1.1.0
I hit Yes , Downloads the (2110 kb update) then i get the screen where it says to hit 1 and continue so i do so
then on next creen says hbc can be installed in green and i hit continue install hbc ,yes then it installs and i get sucessi then go to exit bring me back to hbc and in the corner it say im on 1.1.0 ios 58 v25.32 so i then exit out to system menu click on backup HBC hit start and once again i get the update message is this normal , a glitch or have i done something wrong ?
    any help would be apreciated
