But I guess if you have a lot of stuff, it would be better to find another way.
So there doesn't appear to be much benefit to formatting the memory unless I plan to sell and want to erase all the info...I was just wondering if it reset any data tied to the disc drive (such as something that may cause the drive to not work properly, say stop reading GameCube games). Thank you for the info

I came across an issue using the 4.2 version.

-Click the SD-ICON from the wii channel menu- load the boot.dol
    -Multi-Mod Manager will load
    -Select Wad Manager -Press A
-Press 1, -Press A -Install all wads
    -IOS58 and IOS61 will install
    -Press "any button"
-Press B to go back to WiiMods Main menu
    XSelect and load "App Manager"
    XSelect hackmii_installer_v1.0 -Press A
    Hackmii Installer Loads

I can't find "app manager." It doesn't exist! I go to "apps" instead, and and in the "hackmii_instaeler_v1.0" folder I load boot.elf which just causes the wii to crash. Anyone know a fix? Thanks.

Alright, I'm having a lot of trouble modding my Wii. First of all, some information that is probably needed.

    - Launch Wii
    - System menu 4.3U
    - IOS80

I put the SmashStack files onto the root of my 2GB Toshiba SD card which is formatted to FAT32. I managed to get into the Hackmii installer easy enough but I got the message about there being no usable or vulnerable IOS on the Wii. I downloaded the Hackmii-Fix but anytime I try to use App Manager or WAD Manager I get "error mounting device: SD". I've tried putting the files on a flash drive as well but that wouldn't mount either. However, now that I think about it I didn't format the flash drive before I tried it, I just stuck the files in a folder, though I don't see how that'd give me an error mounting it. It's also using FAT32.

Edit: Alright, I've gotten a bit further, I loaded IOS36, and with that I was able to see several IOS files in the WAD manager. I highlighted IOS58, pressed A, used the D-Pad to choose uninstall, and confirmed it. However, it didn't actually uninstall. So I went to the IOS manager and tried to delete it through there. I pressed - when I highlighted it, pressed A when it asked me to confirm, and with no further text, was brought back to the IOS manager, where IOS58 still existed. I tried to uninstall it from the WAD manager as well but it failed again.

Maybe I'm not loading the right IOS. I see 36 has no patches, none of them seem to.

    Spoiler

You're really using WiiMod, switch to Multi-Mod Manager

Is there a way of loading apps from a USB device? My SD card isn't working anymore.

After you've already installed HBC, press one and it gives you the choice to load apps from USB. Just make sure they are in the correct path which I believe is USB:\apps

Yes. Press 1 while in the homebrew channel and select usb. With a fat32 formatted drive, you can keep all your apps, games, movies, roms, etc....

Follow the fat32 loading guide below.

I'm trying this again. I've been playing around with some options in the MMM, I tried to install the IOS236 WAD but it's unsuccessful. It gives me the ticket -2011. I read somewhere else on this site that that means I need the Trucha Bug Restorer. I'm just wondering if that's right, the post I found about it (that also offers a download link) is two years old, and the program warned that it could brick my Wii, so I just want to double check here before I mess with it.

How do you switch to multi mod manager? I just downloaded the file for 4.2 and started the sd card.
Is the files in the guide wrong?
