Could've sworn this was gonna be it. I saw this user post this.

    How would I do it?
Have you made sure your date and time are correct? You have formatted the SD card to fat32, right?

When my bro did his all he had to do was type in his mac address on the site, click "cut the red wire" (pretty sure they both do the same thing), and extract the contents to his SD card. Perhaps you didn't enter your MAC address correctly?

Yes, date and time are correct. Yes, I formatted my SD card to FAT32. No, my MAC address is not wrong.

It's just not popping up. =/

I have done a couple Wiis that had the same problem. I formatted them from the system settings. After that the bomb appeared like it should.

Maybe try making the memo and posting it first. Not sure exactly how to do it, never have. But you could always Google "how to post a memo on my Wii?"

You can backup your saves to a SD card, in data management. Some are copy protected though.

So I could back up my saves to an SD card, do Wii settings "format system memory", copy the saves back and they would still work? What exactly does formatting the memory do? I thought it was just to wipe out saves and Shop Channel info/downloads without having to do it one at a time...

What is Lost After Formatting the System Memory?

    Answer:

When the Wii System Memory is formatted, most of the information stored on the system is erased; however, some information will remain.

    What is Lost:

Wii System Settings (Parental Controls, Internet Settings, etc.)

    Game Save Data

    Channel Save Data

Downloaded Virtual Console Games (licenses are retained)

Downloaded WiiWare Games (licenses are retained)

Downloaded Channels - Everybody Votes, Internet Channel, etc. (licenses are retained)

    Custom Channel Settings

    Mii characters

    Message Board Content

Wii Number (this will change to a new number)

    What is Retained:

    Current Operating System

Licenses for all downloaded games and channels from the Wii Shop Channel (save information will be lost, and they will need to be re-downloaded)

Data stored on external accessories (SD card, GCN Memory Card, etc.)

    MAC Address

    Sync Information
    SOURCE

I'm not sure why it works for me, when I get a Wii that just won't find the bomb. I think it may have something to do with erasing the Message board content. Or just restoring default settings. IDK.

But I guess if you have a lot of stuff, it would be better to find another way.

    How would I do it?
    • From the Wii Menu page, go to the "Wii Message Board." (the envelope at the lower right corner)
    • Click on the icon titled "Create Message."
    • Select icon with the title labeled "Memo." (Left most icon)
    • Click on the memo pad and the keyboard will pop up. Type in any message.
    • When done select the "OK" button.
    • Click on the "Post" button.
    • Your Memo will be then posted on that date. (this will update the sd card)
    • Check the messages and change dates to look for the letterbomb.

edit: this was my source from pl...e.h...mii.com

I just managed to get this to work. Apparently at least one message needs to be present before the SD card is updated. The wii was brand new and at first this didn’t work. I then added a memo myself and tried again: success!
