ok, im new to the wii hacking world, but i have a serious problem. i just bought a new western digital my passport 320gb HDD. my wii will not read it at all. i used this guide to softmod my wii and then used the fat32 guide for the hdd, and when that didnt work i went to the ntfs guide and that didnt work. so im lost now. the only reason i bought the drive was for games so i would appreciate it if someone would help me out asap. im going away soon and i didnt want to carry 45 discs around. please help.

(and dont "noob" me to death, im not new to hacking, im just new to the wii scene)

@poonhead - watch youself. Whether or not you like what he's said, he's trying to help you. Asking if it's plugged in is always a good first step. Nuf of that, I'll assume you got the message and will keep yourself in check from now on.

You said "My wii did not read it at all" what does that mean? What was the ACUTAL symptom? While some people would argue it, my personal preference is fat32, particularly if the drive is going to be a devoted wii drive. If you put apps on it in /apps/appname/boot.dol can you see them through hbc?

Define for us better what the issue is and we can try and help.

@Blu your right, I apologize. I'm just very frustrated at the moment with this whole thing. By "my wii did not read it at all" I mean like its formatted to fat32, set active, its compatible on the list but whenever I go into any of my usb loaders it won't pick it up. It keeps saying, "waiting for hdd" and then it says none found.

Ok. Do this. Follow the fat32 guide (see my sig if u need) to reformat your drive to fat32. I use EaseUS for the wiis I help with. Follow it carefully. Make sure @ the end the partition is primary and active. Then, go get Configurable USB Mod (latest DOL) rename it to boot.dol and put it in /apps/usbloader/boot.dol. Then make a /wbfs/ folder.

Once you've done that, attach the drive to the wii, remove any SD card you may have, launch up the wii, and hit homebrew channel. You should see config usb there (without a pic or a description kuz it lacks a png/xml in the folder can sort that later). Hit it up, and report back.

If configurable usb loader launches, take one of your originals and use config to rip it, then cross ur fingers and try to launch it.

If anything fails in the process, when you reply try and be as specific as you can so we can help you toubleshoot.

Try reinstalling cIOS. I got this on GX and NeoGamma when I forgot to install cIOS 249 on my friend's Wii.
