Hi all great guide i have used it successfully to mod 2 wii's so far. I have a quick query regarding the patched system menu 4.1. I have installed this on both occasions and am curious about how it blocks updates. When i modded the last wii i noticed when connecting to the wifi network it asked if i wanted to update from nintendo. Of course i chose no but what would of happened if i said yes, would the patched system menu have blocked it?

If anyone could help that would be great. I might be modding a family members wii and want to make sure they cant in any muck it up. Thanks.

If you have priiloader set to block updates, it will fail regardless. The patched system menu is one of the things we recommend here that adds another layer of protection on it, at least in a theoretical way. The version number of our 4.1 system menu is so high that it would be difficult if not impossible for stock Nintendo processes to muck with it, even if they happened to somehow get around the Priiloader setting.

This guide has been written with brick prevention as a guiding principal, everything in here is setup to:
    * Prevent you from bricking in the first place
    * Give you as many options as you can in case you do brick.

And remember, there is always a way to muck something up, (Just ask CJIzzle) so explanation is going to go a long way when explaining the softmod.

    Yes, the update would fail.

What did I muck up again? Lol

Sent using the WiiHacks app. Please excuse the brevity, punctuation and spelling.

Hi guys, I have just started modding a White, somewhat older Wii (before Wii Motion Plus controllers) and it took an 8Gig just perfectly (did a Bannerbomber). I thought a virgin Wii could only handle a 2GB SD card, what gives ? Or was I totally wrong The 8Gig SD card is Kingston

Yes there is, but there are is no way to remove every trace that your Wii was modded. Also, it is not recommended as it can be dangerous.

Wii consoles below 4.0 cannot read sdhc cards. Also, the hackmii installer can be very picky about what cards can be used. Most wont work. Thats why we always recommend the one that works every time, Sandisk SD 2GB.

I going to sell my wii, but the buyer wants to use originals games, so if i tell him that this a softmodded wii, he probably wont want to buy it.
