Right, my discs werent loading because either crashing the Wii or saying my drive was too new (even though it was the very first drive), so I went out and bought one of the compatible USB HDDs (Hitachi XL1000) and followed the relevent guides to install the games on it. USB Loader recognises the games but when I go to play the Wii crashes and i get that "please eject disc and turn power off" error. I tried with games already installed on my Wii (pokemon snap, majora's mask) and the Wii crashes with same error.

    My questions:
Could it be the mod failed (even though everything installed as it should using the guide) and would retrying solve this?
    or
With my Wii not being used for over 2 years could it be my Wii has broken? or maybe it just needs cleaning?

Any advice would be great thanks.

Can you load nintendo channels, wiiware, retail wii games? Almost sounds like your dvd ndrive may be bad. Is it very old?

Normal Wii channels seem to work, its whenever i try to load a game (Wii Ware, Retail, Backups etc) that I get the error. The Wii does seem to get rather hot within minutes of turning it on, not sure if thats a sign that inside my Wii is the problem.

Edit: yeah its rather old, was bought on the very first day it was released, but got bored of it over 2 years ago due to not being enough good games and just recently dragged it back out.

I suspect your dvd drive has gone bad and needs replacing. I can't say for sure becouse I thought that the normal wii channels also did not work. But if you can not load wiiware/vc channels from the wii channel menu and retail games do not load from the wii disc channel it is propably the dvd drive.

I disconnected the Wii and gave the airvents a good cleaning and plugged it all back in. The Wii is no longer overheating and the games are loading so I guess it was just the fans stopping it all working. Thanks for the help/guide =]

You can try to use the Twilight Hack. Download it from HERE. You will need Zelda Twilight Princess to run it. Instructions are included in the download.

There is a section you might want to reference "What this guide installs". Everything listed there. Presently d2x 7 final.
