I have a quick question that hopefully somebody can help me out with.

After following the guide, everything works until I try to play my backup of skyward sword ripped to a usb HDD from an original disk.
Loader GX and Wiiflow continually give me the error #001 unauthorized device message - I've tried all the possible recommendations on the boards such as changing the ios from the launcher or executing via player.dol but to no avail.
Neogamma and Configurable Loader both work fine however.

So now I am more concerned as to whether I have done something wrong myself that is causing incompatibility or whether it's the combination of softmod software versions and the game itself.
I've reinstalled all my wads and gone through the softmodding process a few times incase I stubbed my ios's but that also made no difference.

Help would be greatly appreciated - thank you

    Many thanks
You have not done anything wrong. I have no idea why you would be getting that error in wiiflow and usbloader gx. Try a fresh install of those loaders, see if that helps. You really should not get that error. If it really bothers you, you could always patch the error 001 out of the main.dol with generic wii patcher, then replace the main.dol with wiiscrubber. But you should not get it because the loader should be patching it for you.

    Thanks for your reply mate.
At the end of the day I could always just say "stuff it" and use configurable loader or neogamma, but when something doesn't work when it should, it drives me mad.
I really would like to sort this out for my own peace of mind if nothing else.

I just downloaded Wii patcher and extracted the main.dol with Wii scrubber and tried to patch 001 and 002 errors but it says no 001 or 002 protection found :/
I'm so confused as to why this is happening but I'm determined to solve it.. do you have any other suggestions bro?

    UPDATE -

I tried forcing it to run on IOS222 under GX and it loads, but it's very choppy and sluggish. I then tried to force it on 248, 249 and 50, however I get 001 errors on all.

sounds like you're missing a cIOS installed to slot 249. But I'm sure this guide and the majority of other guides would have instructed you to do so, did you skip any steps?

hey guys..I'm new around here..I have a black wii..4.3e..I wanted to mod it but I wasn't very sure..kinda scared..I managed to install the HBC and BootMii as IOS but now I'm faced with a dilemma..some guides say that if I have a BootMii as IOS I should not make a NAND backup because it will get bricked...some say I should...which one is it? isn't it enough if I install the Priiloader as a brick protection ? do I have to make a NAND backup too ? sry if this question seems silly or if it was asked in a previous thread

You shouldn't get bricked if you make a NAND backup with BootMii IOS. I backed up my Wii today after re-hacking it. I wouldn't say it's enough to just install Priiloader because even though it gives you some brick protection you still have the risk of bricking your Wii(mine has been been hacked for two years and hasn't bricked yet but there is still a chance). The backup is just in case you brick you Wii so you can restore it. Priiloader is there for people who can only install BootMii as an IOS so they can still go to BootMii and restore.

This guide is sound. Make the backup and tuck it away.

Sent with WiiHacks app, that should explain any typos 8-p

Hi guys. After months of my hacked wii sitting in a corner unplugged, I went to plug it all back in and I can't get it to work.

If I reboot the external drive first, then reboot the Wii, then go to the usb config loader, I see FAT32 mount: SD, then "mounting device, please wait", then the screen counts until Error "ret -1". The external drive status light turns solid red. (normally it's blue and flashes read when the drive is reading/writing).

If I reboot the wii first, then the drive, the system crashes/hangs on the USB Config Loader "splash" screen, and never gets to the "mounting device" screen.

The drive is plugged into the USB port closest to the edge.

Sorry, it's been so long I can't remember what I should do. I checked the error messages thread but didn't get much help there.

Can someone walk me through troubleshooting/fixing?

thanks for the quick reply, I'm new at this stuff and it's like chinese for me..I tried to follow along this guide or other guides to make a nand backup..went to my wii..opened it...started the hbc...launched bootmii...the screen goes black...and the console's blue led starts blinking...according to this guide I have to press the buttons on my console..power power power reset reset to create the backup... do I need my sd card in the console? do I need to have something on the sd card for this backup to register on my sd card? when do I start pressing to power power power reset reset combination? how long does it take to create the backup..does anything appear on the screen indicating that it's finished? any help is greatly appreciated..my bootmii is installed as ios ..not boot2...i have a 4.3e wii..thanks in advance for any help/support.
