@checker - Probably the easiest way for us to get a handle on what's going on is to run a syscheck (pls use v2.1.0b16) and post it.
I would seriously doubt that the loader is corrupting an image on your drive. I also doubt that having a USB device hooked up during would hurt anything. What loader and version are you running? What cios are you using to load the titles that dont work?

Hello. Its been a long time since i even touched my wii and want to start playing it again. I want to upgrade from my old softmod and this guide is well written but i am confused. Could someone please tell me what steps i need to follow and the ones i dont need. I even forgot which guide i used to mod my wii but am pretty sure it wasnt this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

for an old wii with game cube ports that plays dvds but is on s.m. 4.3 and has this sotmod pack installed which dvd player program do i want as there seems to be a few to work with different v.s of home brew browser/s.m.? probably the wrong place to post but its linked to this as im not sure of compatability issues thanx muchly
@painless thank you pal, i may go back and down grade to the recomended 4.1sm i just read on another site about the homebrew boys state its a bad move but im seeing that this place is far more user friendly and the calibre of the advice ive had upto now is bulletproof so infact im going to go do that now, funnily enough im having more fun messing round with it than i ever do the games, must be because the consequences are real when you do this and you get the continue option when you die!!

If you have the homebrew channel, start from the spoiler that says "softmods with homebrew channel installed". Don't skip anything.

Ok so using this guide am i right in thinking that after ive downloaded all the files a 4.3 system wii is the same as a 4.2?? I know that i have to use the letterbomb method
Ive read that 4.3 needs a certain game to softmod is this true?
Also any idea why i cant make posts in the forum??

I recently bought a wii for my 6 yr old and quickly realized the risk of her scratching the games I bought to high hell. My friend bought one for his son and soft-modded his to protect his games and I figured it would be in my best interest to do the same. I was going to just come online and search for directions but he insisted I let him do it for me. Now it works. I have 6 or 7 games I bought (mario, mario kart, etc) backed up on a USB drive. I was reading around about going online with soft-modded wii's and I got a bit concerned. Some places said I should update [x] file or install [x] ios and I have no idea what any of it means. I decided I'd like to start over and do it myself so I can get a better understanding of whats going on in my console. This guide seems to be highly recommended and up to date, but I'm not sure where I should start since I have other things already installed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
