Is some special SM version for Wii consoles which sell in Australia, cause on console of my friend, who recieved like present Wii console from Australia, SM has letter E at SM version, like 3.4E , is it possible that australian consoles use european SM, probably that in Australia they use PAL system too, then is it ok to use letter bomb for 4.3E on this console with 3.4E (i plan to upgrade it to 4.3 SM, then to unlock it) ?

    Greetzz

Ok pob , like i though Australia is in PAL TV system group, like Europe, that's reason they use SM with letter E ... Ok, if you suggested SM 4.1 is right choice, i'll use 4.1 SM !

yes pob, i know it i unlocked my Wii, which was on SM 4.3 - newer white console, this one is on 3.4E , it's console of my good friend, and i want to help him to have all nice options like internet, watching movies, playing games from hdd, etc. by unlocking his console on 4.1E like you suggested, that 4.1 is one of the best SM , or maybe to go on 4.3 ? I read on hackmii blog that's not suggested to upgrade directly OS through internet update from Nintendo Wii directly, and to use updating SM through hackmii installer, is it danger to update directly through Wii Menu from 3.4E to 4.3E OS, cause direct update, update OS to latest version ?

I'll do what you suggest like the best solution !

Updating past 4.1 really has no benefit. 4.2 and 4.3 were just homebrew killers. If you want to do an online update and get to 4.3 prior to following the guide thats your call. We do not recommend that route. As far as any of us know, it would be fine but we never really know if nintendo has changed something and blocked the ability to mod. Personally I used a disc the last time I had a wii with that old of a SM and updated to 4.1 then followed the guide. This guide will give you all of the newer ios that you would get by going to SM 4.3, just not actually run on the 4.3 ios.

btw, the E is for the region.

Main reason why i want to update OS is that when i tried to use wii shop channel, it says "you need to update your OS to use wii shop channel", something like this ... Yes, i know that many experts for Wii consoles don't recommend direct update - online, you are right maybe they changed something, and after update i'll can't softmod it ... But what disc you used last time, do you have uploaded that disc with 4.1, cause this console is too with older driver, see picture bellow, generated by serial of this Wii console through Wii Drive Chip Database - Serial Number Estimation

i'm afraid to update it directly online, please if you have that disc with 4.1E uploaded somewhere post that link.. Yes, i know E - like european or for all Wii which are sold in countries where is PAL system like NZ,AUS, most of countries in Asia (exclude JP)
