Apologies first for having little advice. Do not be discouraged, because it's certainly possible. I just LetterBomb'ed a couple of hours ago on a brand new Wii, but I am stuck on a small point later in this guide. I see you went some distance already. If you hacked your Wii before today, downloaded the incorrect region of LetterBomb, or input the wrong IP address, your answer may lie there.

I'll keep looking, thanks. Maybe I can continue to try different brands of SD cards. I don't think it's the mac/region thing. I think (I may be completely wrong) the M.A.C. thing has to do with the system finding the letterbomb in messages (which I'm able to do). My region (according to my system) is 4.3U, which is the default at please.hackmii.

The IOS-Update Files aren't on there. Extract them to SD:/wad/IOS-Update. Then navigate to that folder with MMM and install them

Possibly they were uninstalled previously. Removing them is not necessary, so feel free to continue.

I don't think it's a problem with my media (SD card) but I've tried multiple cards (and formatting tools) anyway, in case. The problem is the scam screen is freezing (or the remotes are merely turning off). Whatever the case, I have to reboot my wii and can't get anywhere.

I tried an older remote and that didn't work. I heard that you could make your way through hackmii with the reset and power buttons, but that doesn't work either.
The scam screen freeze is not related to LetterBomb. Have a look at this guide for information on how to fix it.

I tried that guide yesterday. I was able to see a menu (at least), but couldn't navigate it with my remotes. I tried an older remote, navigating with the front buttons on the wii, etc.

    Thanks for replying.

Try force-clearing all synced remotes (hold the sync button on the console for at least 15 seconds) and then re-syncing (press the sync button on the console then the sync button on the remote). Someone really needs to get this WiiMote incompatibility thing figured out.

WiiFlow should be set up like this:
    SD:/apps/WiiFlow/boot.dol
