    2- extract the files
    3- run HBC
    4- choose bootmii
    5- black screen says "loading .... "

    any help with this,

you should know that i followed every thing in SM from 5 months
You only need to load MMM via bootmii during your first softmod. After that you can load it from HBC, but you need to install it to your sd card. The files that load MMM via bootmii are in the modpack -sd:\bootmii ,\boot.dol ,\startup.elf

I'd tried doing that, going to bannerbomb's site and trying the other versions of bbv1. None of them gave me any result, but what I found odd is that the site gives two possible events (loading the boot.dol/elf or freezing the wii), and my wii keeps responding, but doesn't find anything in the sd card's channels list.
And sorry mauifrog, I don't understand what you mean by "make sure your not loading bbv1 from the sd menu".
    Thanks for the attention.

@macul - Are you using a 1 or 2 gig sd card? If you're using a SDHC card, chances are it won't work. Is it sandisk? Sandisk have been found to be the most compatible. If you're using a 1 or 2 gig card, try formatting it with the Panasonic SD formatter password www.wiihacks.com

If that doesnt work, try a different card (& use sdformat). The installer is fairly picky.

I'm using a Kingston 1gb sd card and did use the panasonic sd formatter. I also tried with a generic 2gb sd card I found in my room.
I'm thinking of trying the Twilight Hack or the Smash Stack exploit.

Great guide, fixed some of my IOSs being maxed out from my brother using a YouTube guide lol. I did however skip a few things in this guide.
    1) Install Homebrew Channel (already had it).

    2) Install Bootmii/boot2 (again, already had it)

    3) Install Priiloader (you guessed it, I had that too)

Lastly I skipped installing the patched system menu 4.1. I'm currently on 4.2 and not been having any major problems so I see no reason to change it. Whenever my friend gets his Wii and decides he wants it hacked (he said he definitely will) I know where to look

i need help. my kid did something to the USBLoader. don't know exactly what.
i have a 4.3 Wii softmoded with using this guide. the priiloader works fine but the USBloader gives me a black screen and returns to the menu system.
i tried deleting and re-installing both both USBloaderCFG.dot and Homebrew Browser files. I even tried updating Priiloader to v0.7(r138). can't make it run again.

    any ideas?

Is the SD card in? Where are your apps stored?

You might want to re-install everything (installing over the current versions will be fine) just to make sure they're up to date. The reasons to change the SM are that you get the use of bbv1 and it's engineered in a way to keep N from updating you. But if you don't have any problems, you don't need to change.
