    Cool Flawless!

Following this wonderful guide, I've softmodded my 4.3u Black Wii in 10 minutes or less.
(But 2 weeks reading and reading and rerereading a lot, lol ).

Now I'm playing from my Kingston Data Traveler 16 GB pendrive, converting my game images to wbfs format with WiiBackupManager (Just put the games into wbfs folder at the root).

I would love to have some kind of Director's Comments, explaining technical details better. Like: "Downgrading the SM to my patched 4.1 is good because....." or "Despite the fact that the majority of guides out there tell us to don't mess around with the system ioses, we're going to mess around with the system ioses because...."
I like to understanding what I'm doing, not just doing it.

Read my newbies thread (signature). And if you did it in 10 minutes, you didnt do a NAND backup, for shame.

LOL, it's true. I've read your guide before too.
I forgot to mention that the part 1 of the guide (The Homebrew Channel install + NAND backup) was done 1 week ago.
In fact the "10 minutes or less" was only the part 2 and 3 of the guide. Thanks for the reminder.

Ok, I have successfully completed the process and all seems to be well. I have been able to connect USBHDD and play several backed-up game images (used WiiBackupManager).

I just have a few final questions and comments.

First - in Ch.2 Part 3 "Installing PriiLoader", the instructions say to install the file named "USBLoaderCFG.dol". However, in the actual screen, there is only a file named "USBLoader.dol", i.e., it doesn't contain the letters "CFG". I just want to confirm if this is intentional, and all is well to install this file as is - I did, and it seemed to work, but I want to check.

A second part of this question is this - after installing the .dol file, I was left with the white screen with black text, and there was no way to exit out or change anything. But the guide goes on to mention "optional Priiloader settings". I couldn't see any way to access those. I had to reboot the Wii just to get out of that screen. Is this normal and safe? The guide is a little unclear here.

Second Q - regarding NTFS vs FAT32 file systems for the USBHDD, I have found both latest guides redarding their setup, and I understand the general benefits of each. What I haven't been able to understand is only this - can I put the "Appz Pack" on the HDD (to have access to the Appz), if I am using NTFS? I believe I have read in the guides that I can NOT, but I also have read in the guides that there ARE USBLoaders that will function on the NTFS HDD.

I ask this because, I removed the SD card with the Appz Pack installed on it, and I was then unable to access the USBHDD until I replaced the SD card with the Appz on it. I would like to have the USBLoader on the HDD if possible, and not have to keep the SD card installed all the time. So the question is, is there a USBLoader that can be installed on the NTFS HDD? If so, where could I get it?

Thanks again for all the hard work of everyone involved, it's been exciting so far and very successful up until this point!

just updated a 4.2u that was originally softmodded using messie's guide. Everything went smooth, thanks! One question though.... is it still recommended to keep WiiConnect24 off at all times? Now that I'm on SM 4.1 and have Priiloader set to block online updates, I believe it's more protected from updates than before. It's no big deal to keep it off and only turn on when needed, but I was just curious.

For the staff: The instructions in chapter 2 part 3 and chapter 3 of this guide have not been updated for the new contents of APP-PACK-v2.

I don't think you'll have any problems. If you have Priiloader set to block online updates (you should also set it to block disc updates if you haven't already), then you should be good. Also, the patched version of 4.1 installed by this guide is made in a way to keep N from updating your SM as well. I personally have WC24 on but standby off. If you feel comfortable with it on, go for it. Else leave it off.
