    Hello
I im kind a beginner in wii haking and I have lots of questions but at the same time I’m kind of afraid of making new installs on my wii, installation that could be unnecessary. I newly softmoded the wii using the guide (version 4.3e) and I read a lot of thread and I observed that lot of people mention something like d2x cIOS or something like Hermes cIOS. I used a usb and observed that the wii is moded correctly because some games work just fine but some do not start at all. Now my question even if it’s a stupid one.
Does the two cios (things) mentioned above have something to do with playing and I realy need them to play a large number of games? If I really need them what exactly should I install. And if I decide to install is there a possibility to make my wii crash ?
Sry if my questions are a bit annoying and stupid.

@gigipuspca - start with the newbies thread in my signature. cIOS are used to start games. This guide puts all the cIOS's that you'll likely ever need on your wii for you. You (or your loader) chooses one when u launch a usb game. Having them available as spec'ed in this guide will give you everything you need.

Make your wii crash? Um, well, with any softmod there is a possibility for error. But the risks are largely mitigated in this guide. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you Blu for the quick response.
I have read your thread and things are a bit clearer but still questions pop up. I didn't quite understand you when you said that i should fallow the guide and all that i need will be available. I softmoded my wii two weeks ago when the old guide was available. Did you mean that i should perform the new guide and all the cios that i may encounter are available with this guide.
Also i have read that different guide work better whit different loaders. now i have the CFG loader that was installed whit the guide. should i try to install a new loader ? If so what do you recommend?

After softmodding, my wii ( Used to be 4.3E) displays 4.1E. Should i leave as it is or update it? ( using IOS Update.zip, as described ).

    Thanks.

I believe that it is only your system menu that is 4.1. The IOS files from 4.3 are still there.

the guide clearly states that it will install a patched system menu v 4.1. you didn't have to if you didn't want to. I would just leave it. there's nothing necessary in v4.2 or v4.3.

    Hi,

I have softmoded my Wii using the previous revision of Mauifrog guide. And have successfully updated to the new CIOS Pack V5. I am about to update Priiloader 0.6 to 0.7 but want to get some clarification before I get started.

Do I need to format my SD Card and put the latest CIOS Pack V5 which included Priiloader 0.7 to update to Priiloader 0.7? Or I should just copy the latest Priiloader app into my current SD Card and load it through HBC and the installation will override v0.6? and if I have hacks already enabled on v0.6 do I need to re-enable them after the installation of v 0.7? or I need to disable all the hacks before the update then re-enabling them again?

    Thanks in advance.
