Sorry i have taken so long to respond. Real life got the better of me and i couldn't find the time to mess with the Wii until now.

But i went ahead and proceded with the guide by skipping the IOS 58 & 61 part as you suggested, and finished everything without any noticeble problems.
Now the softmod certainly works better than it did before i removed it and re-moded, but it's still not functioning as it should.

I have tried three device:s (two of wich are listed as compatible in the compability list iv'e seen on this forum), and all of them has different (but simmilar) issues.
Below i have compiled everything as concise and informative as i can, so that maybe i can be helped to figure out what the issue is.

Games tested: Muramasa Demons Blade, Donkey Kong Country Returns
Games tried to rip: Zack & Wiki, Madworld

8 GB USB Fat32 Thumbdrive (dont know the label of it):
Loads up fine in CfgUsb most of the time, but hangs from time to time, both on load up and during menu use. Game shows up in menu, managed to download artwork. After starting game and getting past security screen, the screen goes black and freezes, everytime. Must hard reset.
Usb Loader Gx has the same issues as above. Trying to rip a game in Gx works initially, but freezes early in the process, usually before even hitting 1%. Trying to rip a game in CfgUsb it says "installing game, please wait..." and then it freezes (has to hard reset).

320 GB WD USB HDD, 2 partitions: 180 GB Unalocated, 18 GB Fat32 Primary, Active:
When connected, the Wii hangs while starting HBC and UsbCfg. Can start Usb Loader Gx if
i connect the HDD after startup, but sometimes it tells me to choose device or to format. When i then choose the device, it kicks me out to the system menu, and i then load USB Loader GX again, and it starts properly (albeit slow). No game shows up in the menu. When trying to install games to harddrive, the process starts at 100% and freezes.

1,5 TB WD Elements USB HDD, 2 partitions: 1,31 TB NTFS Primary, 51 GB Fat32 Primary, Active:
Freezes on CfgUsb startup. Can enter HBC & Usb Loader Gx fine, but Gx kicks me out to the system menu after chosing device, just like with the 320 GB HDD. And when i get into the Gx menu, not only does it not show any games on the harddrive, the harddrive itself shows up as 0,00 GB, even though the partition is 51 GB

Have extracted HackMii 4.0-4.2- Bannerbomb v2 to SD and have opened SD from Wii channel.
I only see a block with a "?" on it. When opening that I see two blocks, one with one "?" on it and another with 3 "?" on it. Which do I select?

Thanks for the great guide. It was fairly straightforward. I have successfully fixed my old botched wii that had HBC, but couldn't boot much of anything out of it. I skipped the system menu 4.1 part (kind of scared, as I've heard to never downgrade and am on 4.3 now).

What do you recommend for loading virtual console wads, etc. off of USB? My brother has purchased lots of VC games over the years and it would be awesome to have them all installed at once (limited by wii space on internal nand). I've looked into Triiforce, etc., but am unsure as to what is most compatible with the cIOS installed in this guide. Any recommendation or links to a good guide would be great.

Silly me, was following the wrong section.
Have now got to the BackupMii part and while backing up I have got a couple of bad sectors on this brand new SD card I bought this morning. Will this screw the backup up or will I be ok to leave as is when finished?

I believe you mean, A couple of bad Blocks on your Nand Drive.
    That is normal.

    Mine had Five bad blocks.

    Successfully modded, I think.
Every time I start up I get a "Wii System Memory Full" warning. I have deleted some save files and there are 2 blocks free that I can see. However, I never had anywhere near a full memory prior to this update. What can I do, apart from deleting more save files which I don't really want to do.

There really aren't that many though and moving them would not free up that much space. Like I said, according to the game saves folder there are a couple of free blocks already, but I am still getting the warning each time I start up and can't get to anything else.

Actually, I have moved a couple of game saves to the SD card but still I get the same warning and the Blocks open is still 0??

Moved some more and now have a couple of free blocks.
It looks like there is still the old stuff on there. The USBLoader GX is there. Should this not have gone? Can I remove it and use the Configurable USB Loader?

Ok, have removed USBLoader GX and also another copy of NeoGammer I had on there. Memory looking a bit more healthy.
Now to figure out Configurable USB Loader. lol
