who said i wasnt willing to listen? im reinstalling the mod from scratch as i type this. the mod WORKS with thumb drives but NOT usb hard drives. that is my issue. if i load from thumb drive, i have no problems at all.

i thank you for taking the time to post what you did though.

Another thought: might want to verify the controller ("enclosure") and the HD are listed on the compatibility list, your mention of "Seagate (yeah, yeah)" hardly qualifies as anything definitive...

well i posted this originally in the newbie section but i was told to post it here instead (for reasons i don't fully understand since to me it seems to be a problem with the SD card/bannerbomb more then this tutorial but since i made a reference to this tutorial i guess that's that, but i would like it stated i tried over 10 different tutorials on this and they all had the same problem.)
anywhere here is my original post
Hello, I got a 2nd hand Wii today, it was a old Wii that doesn't appear to have ever been updated (it was still using 2.x system menu when i got it but now it is 3.0e since i played Mario Galaxy to update it to that since 3.0 is needed for the BannerBombv1) and now i have it at 3.0e i tried to do the Bannerbomb using the guide at
    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html
i followed that guide, i used a Sandisk 2GB SD card, Formatted it into FAT32 (i tried both the program at the guide above, my camera and windows XP to format the card and even tried a kingston 512mb SD card), Unziped the files to the SD card's root using 7-zip then put the Card into my Wii, went to the bottom left hand corner click on settings, Data Management and then on the Channels page then clicked on SD along the top, And hey presto, a completely blank screen (just like when you first get your wii and it has no saves on it), all it does is list how many blocks the card has left, So after trying this a few times i tried again with a FAT formatted card and still no luck, then decided to try the different versions of bannerbomb v1 from
    Index of /aads
    (i tried aad1a_v108.zip - aad50_v108.zip)
And still nothing, Then i tried Bannerbomb v2 (out of desperation), and still nothing,
Then thinking maybe something was wrong with my SD card i decided to copy a save file from my Wii to the SD card to see what would happen, the save transferred correctly so i know the SD card works and the Wii can read it,
so now i am totally lost, can anyone help please ?

PS. i also tried searching these forums and the web but couldn't find anyone with the exact same problem as me who had fixed it.

I gave you a direct link to a file. I notice in your repost here in the proper guide, you fail to mention that (in terms of acknowledging whether you did indeed use the mentioned file or not). A reply or touching on that is kind of a basic thing on the query...

the drive is a seagate freeagent usb3.0 drive. couldnt find a compatibility list in the time i had left (friend came to pick up his wii). however,

i redid the softmod from the beginning. syscheck is almost identical to the one on the first page, except i still have 2 stubs (3 and 4).

strangely, it worked... sort of. games now load, though load times are as long as a disc and gameplay was extremely choppy on some games (quantum of solace 007, super smash bros brawl) and on others, there was minimal chop (new super mario wii). also tried metroid other m and i couldnt get past the intro scene without HEAVY chop and a few black screens.

im convinced that the wii has a hardware issue that i cant remedy with software patches, updates, etc etc., since a second and third wii will read off that hard drive no problem.

i do find it extremely odd that i can load quantum of solace, other m onto a thumb drive and they play perfectly on the problematic wii.

    thanks for your help!

USB3.0 drives are notorious. Til the advent of the D2X variant of cIOS, they typically were labeled "incompatible." If you use that cIOS in conjunction with mauifrog's base (not sure which one, he's got more than one cIOS that's D2X using different bases), that's where you're gold. Certain games that are loading-intensive (dual layered, cut scenes, and so forth) are known to be choppy --- at least on disc. Via USB, not so much.

    hello guys
i have followed this guide step by step on a 4.3 wii. The only thing i left off was the "block disc upgrades" on priloader
after the mod is finished and qhen i put a dvd for example conduit2, the disc channel appears with a system update icon
is it safe to update in order to play conduit2 via dvd?

a friend followed this guide and he had the same update icon at the end when he inserted a dvd, and went ahead updated and did not loose anything

    would that be true??

Why don't you enable that hack? And why are you using the disc channel as opposed to a USB backup channel (USB Loader GX, NeoGamma, Config USB, etc)?

Hi, I have been trying to get the Homebrew Channel on my wii for the past 2 weeks, but it freezes when I get to the "Press 1 to Continue" part in the hackmii installer. This is what I have done.

    1. I went to the store to buy a Sandisk 2GB SD Card.
    2. Went home, put it into my laptop and then formatted it. (Right click on SD in computer, select format, uncheck quick format, and select FAT32. I then pressed format, and waited until it was done.)
    3. Next, I turned on my wii so I could find out what my mac address was.
    4. I went to Letterbomb and selected 4.3., put in my mac address, and then selected "Cut the red wire"
    5. I opened the file, and dragged both the files (*besides the txt files) into the sd card.
    6. I then took the sd card out, and put it into my wii.
    7. I waited until I got the Letterbomb mail, and then I clicked it.
    8. Everything was going fine until I got to the point where it told me to "Press 1 to continue". I click 1 on my wii remote, and nothing happens.

My Wii version is 4.3u, I've had the Homebrew Channel on my Wii before, but somehow it got deleted. I believe it was easier since it was a lower version. I do not rapid click "1" on press anything on the remote before the "Press 1 to continue" part comes up.. so it's not because I'm clicking the buttons too soon. Also, I have nothing plugged into my wii. No gamecube controller, memory cards, nothing.

If anyone could help me that would be fantastic..Thank you!
