Put the files back on your card exactly as they were and do the NAND backup.

Region changed Korean Wii not playing games off USB

    Hi,
I have a white Korean Wii serial No LKM1109XXXX, it was on SM 4.3U when I got it, I could play backed up games through a channel with a NeoGamma type interface but did not have Homebrew and could not use the Mii or photo channel. Also I could not play the games directly from the Disk Channel and had to use the backup( Neo Gamma type channel).
Before using this guide I opened the wii to see if it had been hardmoded but did not find any additional hardware so I assumed that it had been softmoded from SM 4.3K to SM 4.3U.
After following this guide my Wii is now on 4.1E with all the apps/channels this guide installs. My problems are
1-I am still not able to run games directly from the disk channel and have to use Neo gamma for that.
2-I have tried the CFG usb loader and Neogamma to play games off the USB ( 8GB Kingston ) but Wii freezes and I have to power cycle it to get it working again.

I followed your guide to the letter reading each chapter 3 times before attempting any thing but after the mod I saw a comment in FAQ that Korean Wii owners should install ios15, 34, 36, 61 prior to the guide, is this what is causing it?
Also when you say dont uninstall any IOS do you also mean stub IOS?
Kindly advice what I missed or what is causing these problems.

Thanks for a great guide I would appreciate if you could help me play games from the USB as well.

    1. That's normal, only DarkCorp will allow for use of the disc channel and backups. In other words, using a loader is the norm.
    2. Using what cIOS, 249 or? Try a different card (Kingston for some have presented issues).

Interesting you say it was on 4.3U on a Korean cross-flashed unit --- this presents Error #003 bricks on anything above 4.1U on a Korean unit. If you followed the guide to the letter, it installed the IOS you mention. Stub IOS don't count, you're not removing an IOS but a stub (so long as you've verified it in fact is a stub).

    Like it but no Go!!!

I have modded several wii's but never using this guide. So last night I tried it for the first time on a 4.3u and I really liked how we can use one guide for all wii's now. But after I did everything step by step I hooked my hard drive with all my backups into my newly modded wii and No Go I got a message like get the right Cios then come back.... So I know in every wii I did in the past You always have to remove a cios and replace it with one (don't remember doing anything like this for this mod) I think this is the step I am missing but reading the guide over I don't even see anything like this.

Any help or direction in this matter would be great.

    Thanks Again

The cios pack includes all necessary custom ioses. If you didn't install it, do it.

I have a 4.3 U and I believe if I install everything it would be downgraded to 4.1 U. Since the guide state it is optional, why do it (my understanding is that if I dont do it then I risk the chance of getting bricked in case of online updates, is this correct?).

Also if the 4.1 WAD is not included, then this step wouldn't occur or need to be done, right?

Select the folder "System Menu 4.1" -press A
Never Uninstall IOS, or SM you will brick your wii
Never Uninstall IOS, or SM you will brick your wii
Press (1) to "Install all Wads" - Press A
3 wads should install without error
    "Press any button to continue"

Be sure all 3 wads install, very important
This installs a version patched SM, which I recommend. If this bothers you, don't do it.

If you had read the cios faq you would have seen this

The System Menu 4.1 has been installed with elevated version of 544## making it completely impossible for Nintendo to update your system menu from disc or online. The 4.1 system menu is exactly the same as 4.2/4.3 but still has support for region free disc loading and function bannerbomb v1 v2 exploits. 4.1 is the recommended SM, if you do not wish to install it, delete sd:\wad\System Menu 4.1 wad

Hi, I just did this, but once I got the Hackmii installer loaded, right when it told me to "press 1 to continue" it froze. I've been trying every hour to see if it will work, but no luck. My Wii is version 4.3u.
