We used a different card reader and reformatted (for what has felt like the 50 billionth time lol) the SD card to Fat32. And yay it worked.

    Thank you for your help.

Just a question though, and I don't know if this has been answered in the thread or if it's really an issue, but what should we do if we were to buy a game that forced us to update the Wii. (ie Skyward Sword when it comes out, considering there's been rumors that it will force a system update)

You install priiloader which is towards the end of the guide and then enable block online and disc updates. If you are playing from a usb hdd then when you transfer the game the update partition is removed anyway but priiloader is a must...

The cfg forwarder is one of the wads that is installed in the mod. A forwarder channel points to the app on the sd card or usb device. You then d/l the app pack and that has cfg loader in it which needs to be on your sd card to allow the forwarder channel to work.
The dol file you are talking about is installed through priiloader to let you boot to the usbloader on start up if you wish. If you dont want to do that then don't install it.

Thanks a lot for this wonderful tutorial. I've managed to softmod my 1 day old Wii without any trouble despite all warning from my friends that if I do it I'll brick my Wii.

Just something to ask, how can I update app in the Part 3, like CFG USB Loader? Just put now version straight in to the SD card?
Also if I install another usb loader like GX loader will it do any harm to my system?

Cfg can be updated online if you have wi fi on your wii. If not then you can just get the new version and replace the boot.dol in the cfg folder. There is no harm in having multiple loaders.

To update an app replace the boot.dol file with the newer one in the apps folder.
You can have as many loaders as you want. I have NeoGamma, WiiFlow, Config Usbloader, and UsbLoader GX. Just install as you would any other app.

edit: Or do what he said ^,

You may be able to load the apps from priiloader to test the issue, they should only have issue when loaded from HBC when no network is available. If this is the case the only fix is to use apps that do not load AHBPROT, remove the "no ios reload" from the apps meta.xml, or use apps that load cios202. Also I don't think you should be having ios248[frag] in cfgusb, I believe that should be fixed with the update and properly identified. Ensure you have the current cios pack and app pack installed. It could be the HDD, try another usb media just in case.
Thanks Mauifrog. It seems that I was dealing with two issues. One, this WD My Passport 750GB just doesn't work. I reformatted three times. I tried with and without a second partition and it just cannot initialize, even with a power cycle. My Seagate loads fine with the same loaders on the same Wii. The apps erroring out seem to be the AHBPROT issue. Since this is for a friend of mine who doesn't have Internet I will need to remove the "no ios reload" and we should be good. Thanks for your help.

I missed doing Chapter 1 step 3. What should I do now?

As above. I didn't make a NAND backup after installing bootmii. I had HBC installed previously.

What should I do now? My SD card is formatted again and everything has been deleted.

The files which were in the SD card after I prepared my SD card were backed up to my PC.
I would like to continue with step 3 before advancing to Chapter 2.

    Please advise. Thanks in advance.
