Should I delete existing channels (WiiFlow) before starting this?

Sorry if this question was already answered (I couldn't find it by doing a "Search" on this thread). I have a already softmoded Wii (a couple of years ago - SM 4.1U (v449) with HBC 1.0.1 and Priiloader). Now I want to update my IOSs (and HBC as well) and install CFG USBLoader (want to get away from WBFS partition for storing games). So I am planning on doing this Step-by-step guide. Should I delete my WiiFlow channel (I also have an NES Emulator channel and a MarioKart channel) before I start?

I assume by HBC will get upgraded during this process. Below are my SysCheck results -

    Spoiler

    Thanks!

You can delete the wiiflow channel (that will not hurt)

You can also just update via this guide... You don't necessarily need to update HBC... Just use the latest cIOS and IOS from this guide and you should be fine!

    Nand backup problems!

I need some help! normally i found all that i need by searching and reading the threads but not this time.

I softmodded severals Wii ( 9 ) with the firmware 4.3u, i followed the guide for this version but this time i was unable to make a backup for the nand. The part 3 of the guide tell us to make that, i've tried the alternative to nand backup but it did not work.

I decided to continue the guide and i finish the softmod without problems. After that i was thinking that i will be able to make the nand backup but NO, i cannot.

When i tried to backup, the screen freeze in black and the drive of the Wii flash.

    I post a sys check.

    Spoiler

    Thank you for your help

Go back into hackmii installer and select prepare sd card. This will put the relevant bootmii files on the sd card. No more flashy flashy or black screen.

Thanks for your help narse1979. I just did that an everything went OK.

It would have helpful to know that at the beginning, when i started the softmod.

    Question SD vs SDHC

    Hello,

I have read through the guide a few times now and I could use a hand. I have System Menu 4.3 and a US Wii.

From another site's information, I used Letterbomb - using an SDHC card, 4GB (not even knowing about this site or guide yet ) . I successfully installed Homebrew Channel and BootMii (only IOS was an option and that was successful). I also made a NAND back-up. I basically did all of Chapter 1 using my SDHC card. I backed up the Bootmii files to my PC as well.

As for Chapter 2, it says to format the SD card, but apparently this SDHC card will not work going forward. I noticed that the Homebrew Channel mentions a lot of applications are SDHC enabled. I already got a few emulators to work. Does this mean that I can continue on using my SDHC card as is? Does it have to be using the same card?

If not, I do have a 500MB SD card, but would there be any bad effects from using a different SD card to complete Chapter 2 onwards? I would need to reclaim the 500 MB SD card at some point. Ultimately, I am gearing towards playing my back-ups off a USB HDD or USB Stick.

    Any help is appreciated!

Hmmm... I wonder what the guide says on this:

^There is a reason for this. If you proceed ignoring the recommendations (and for example all the wads fail to install), don't say you haven't been told (twice, lol).

I was just looking for information on how to fix the situation with the tools I have available, and given the order in steps I am in. As I said, I can continue on, but I don't want to start mixing and matching SD and SDHC cards.

You have a couple of different options. Definitely use the sd card to complete the guide. After that you can copy the contents of your sd over to your sdhc. If everything still works ok from the sdhc then you are good to go. If not, go buy a sd card.

Excellent, that's exactly the help I was looking for. I just didn't want to brick my Wii half-way in. Thanks!
