Ok, the errors you are getting, and looking at your syscheck, can mean only one thing.
It's your drive that is the problem. You seem to be in denial about this.

I'm not in denial, and maybe my drive is, in fact, "on it's way" (hell I can't even get my original dual layered games to load anymore, like SSBB or Samurai Warriors 3) but it doesn't sit right with me that, like I said, games play perfectly fine once loaded. Is there a technical explanation to this?

Dual layer games not working is the first sign of the drive going out, no doubt about it. Once the lazer is able to lock in, it can read the disk, but it will have troubles initially getting the process going. And it will be impossible to read dual layer, since this is even more data crammed into a small area.
You are in the early stages of drive fail, and soon enough it won't be able to read a disk at all.

Ok, when a drive is on it's way out, it will sometimes play a game and it will sometimes not.
Wii drives aren't that expensive these days, and are quite easy to replace.
Shadowsonic2(staff member) has a guide on replacing Wii parts if you decide to do it yourself.

EDIT: Damn my slow typing fingers lol.

    omg.....

I put in my ol' lens cleaner dvd, put a drop of lens cleaner that I found lying around the house for eye glassaes (hey its the same thing since it says LENS cleaner), ran it in neogamma twice to see what would happen.. and can you guess what happened when I tried my backup?

yep, my mario golf backup worked on first try... and two out of three tries..... hahaha it's a new record.. once even on the wii disc loader channel although it reset my wii right after because I uninstalled DarkCorp or whatever it's called a while back, and obviously it did not uninstall completely. lol

that's why I refuse to believe everything I hear.... I believe some things, just not all

actually now that I think about it, not sure why I even care so much about getting my wii to read discs better because even when it was working perfectly, it was just the occasional 'Brawl with the Bros' lol. that's basically the only game I ever played on the wii. as for GC mode, personally, only two or three games. besides I got another still nearly brand new, 4.3u black wii in the other room, tho not fully modded (just did the tales of symphonia exploit and installed hbc last night), but probably will never see a dvdr since I believe that is what's seemingly slowly destroying this wii.

at least I can still go the usb route with both of them. but it sucks that I can't load gcn games from them without a Wode or whatever it's called, since that's what I mostly care about, being that I want to keep my other wii dvdr-free.

Does anyone know how to play NTSC-J backups? I've used the Backup Disc Loader from this tutorial but it keeps coming up with a Japanese screen saying to reset the console due to not being the right region. Can someone help please!

    Cool Thanks

I would just like to say thanks for this guide. I had bought the Wii Unlocker the other and had no success. Then found this site which helped a great deal and now my kid's Wii is all happy.
