Why not? you lose nothing by downgrading, and gain so much.....

once i have finished everything in the guide do i still need the SD Card or does everything install to the wii and i can take the sd card out?
You can take the SD card out, but, you won't be able to run any of the apps that are on the card, unless you copy them to your USB drive...

    Exclamation Smash Stack 4.3e Problem

I've literally done EVERYTHING the guide said.
    It still doesn't work.
I switch on SSBB (PAL), put in the SD card.. and go on Stage Builder. Nothing happens. it's just that blank box saying NEW..
I've also tried about 5 other guides. Why isn't this working? Please help
    Thanks

Hi - I had similar at the weekend.

Assuming your card is set up correctly (I followed that page initially before discovering this guide, the stack located in this thread I notice contains all regions so should be easier to use).

*Boot SSBB with SD Card removed
    *Delete all stages
    *Go back to title screen
    *Insert SD card
    *Go back to Stage Builder
*Note: Do not select the copy from SD card
*Wii should boot the .elf file

If the Wii did not boot the SD card at that point, I took out the card, returned to the main menu, inserted the card and tried again, sometimes it took 2 or 3 tries.

This guide worked great. Every step was easy to follow. I ran into one odd situation though. I completed the entire guide and it worked. Everything was in Korean, but I went to the Mii Channel and realized that i have a European Mii Channel (doesn't make sense because my Wii use to be 4.3U) Figured this out the moment i wasn't able to add in Korean letters to my Mii. The keyboard to edit your Mii name is the exact same used in European Mii Channels.

No. The only way to run GC backups is from disc (if your wii is old enough to read backup discs) and, possibly wode, but, I'm not sure about that one.

This is as far as I know, but, keep in mind, someone may figure out a way to do it, and make me wrong... The reason why it doesn't work is because the GC didn't have USB, so, when the wii enters GC mode, the USB is powered off. but, there is a way to run them from SD card, using action replay... I used to do it on my GC, and it worked on my wii as well... but, it requires a wiikey (not the mod chip, just the thing that plugs into the GC memory card slot and acts as an adapter for the SD card)

    Edit:

Actually, i just remembered that it worked up to the point of running the game, because I didn't have the game on SD, and my wii won't read backed up discs... so, it may not work...
