Yes u can just leave it as fat32, because if u rip your games to your pc if u have a drive capable it can convert it to .wbfs = smaller file size in most cases eg New super mario bros is 4.7 bib but only 600mb in .wbfs format

Except now I see why you said "If you have a drive capable"...

Many thanks for taking the time to help. WiiFlow has successfully created a backup that is working fine! It didn't take long at all...not sure why people were talking about multiple-hour WiFi copies and strain on Wii, when this is so quick and easy.

    Software on HDD

Hi Pob3008! sorry I'm a bit new here I just wanted to know, I got the same hdd that is displayed up there. A Western Digital my passport 500gb if I'm not incorrect? well, it has a WDSMARTWARE application on it and I dunno whether to plug it into my Wii. Will it change any settings? Because the software comes as a virtual disk which means that however many times I format it, it's still there. Please help!

I have no experience with that but I wouldn't have thought it would cause an issue

I have followed this guide however I'm having problems loading the games I back up via the Configurable USB loader. They either freeze prior to opening (in blue screen) or shortly after.

This is my second HD as I thought the HD may be the problem. I have posted a syscheck on another forum which I have been advised looks fine.

    Im using:

    Mac OS X 10.6.8

seagate Expansion Portable Drive (1.5 TB, STAX1500300)

    Wii 3.4e

Not sure if this is an issue but when I select my HD in disk utility and click on first aid the "verify Disk Permissions" tab is in light grey (not able to click on it). I also notice in all the screen shots in the guide that the SMART STATUS also shows as "not supported".

I did a quick google too and a mac forum mentions: "Not Supported is on any usb or firewire ext. drives for the smart status".

    Would you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for helping out a clueless newbie!

I Have a HDD question. I have a Seagate 250 HDD that me and my wife share. Though technically it's hers, I use it anyways. I'm saving up for my very own hard drive. Is there a way for me to split up the hard drive so I can use it to install my wii games and she uses it for her stuff? I don't want to formatt the HDD and erase her data......?
