Yes that is possible, it is also possible to have the whole drive ntfs if that is what is preferred

Sent from my GT-I9100 using WiiHacks

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess this may belong somewhere else because I'm feeling like a bit of a noob, but what would you recommend doing? Would making the entire drive NTFS affect my ability to back up my computer files? This is pretty much what I know about NTFS:
    The Good

    • No space wasted when compared to a WBFS file system as the partition can be shared for other duties
    • Can be used for storing your USB Loaders files, movies(WiiMC), etc.
    • Recovery tools/defragmentation choices are much better for NTFS
    • Can load files >4GB, i.e. ISO files
    • No need to convert ISO(s) into .wbfs, although you will save space if you do

    The Bad

    • Homebrew channel does not support apps on NTFS
    • NAND Emulation is not supported.

Also, is there a guide somewhere that shows how to format only part of a hard drive, or is it part of this guide and I've just overlooked it?

i use my drive as full fat32 for my wii and some PC files no problems, the reason i suggested ntfs to u is because most PC's use that format as standard but there is no problem using it as fat32 for both the wii and the PC as long as the files are below 4gb

Do you notice any difference in the time that it takes to load when using a FAT32 partition. I've heard that NTFS loads games faster. I'm still most likely going to make my drive FAT32, but now I'm looking at having a FAT32 partition and an NTFS one.

Bear in mind that Sneek needs a FAT32 partition (possibly needs to be first on the drive as well) so if you think you might want to use Sneek/Uneek in future, probably a good idea to either make the whole drive FAT32 or at least the first partition (large enough for your Wii needs). My drive has a Wii partition and a NTFS partition because it's in my media player and if it was all FAT32 I wouldn't be able to put DVD/Blu-ray rips on it as they're often over 4GB and the media player doesn't support split files.

What is sneek/uneek exactly? I don't know much about it. Isn't it essentially when you run things that you would normally run from an SD card from your HDD instead?

I haven't much experience with it myself yet but as I understand it basically loads a game from the HDD into the Disc Channel, so that it appears as a disc to the Wii and allows you to play certain games (such as Tintin) that don't work with USBLoader GX and other loaders. It achieves this by running an emulated NAND stored on the HDD (or SD card).

    Hey lads/lassies :-)
I have been modded and modding others systems for quite some time now. Thing is now I want to go big or go home. I would like to know what you think the best route would be for my 3TB drives. I no longer want to have to worry about SD cards and all that jive. I want to be able to use my very large archive of disk back-ups. And NOW my curiostiy is being tickled pink with the whole NAND emulation to run my DLC. And to top it off I forsee a way to run my GC back-ups all from the same system/WII/Loader . But what is the best way to go about such a large collection/setup ? wbfs used to be my preference until now. And I want to be able to fully utilize the 3TB of my drives, and be able to run everything else. Yet as far as I know, fat32, which is the preffered format, has a limitation of 2TB. So does it make sense simply to partition and format the drives into 2 fat32 partitions making one of them the operating partition so to speak?

Anywho, this site is a fabulous source of information, and I thank you guys for it as well as the company and hospitality... :-)

    Cheers

Changing from one USB HD to another so I am looking to do a split HD setup this time to use the NTFS side as a large file storage too... I haven't found a detail walk thru for a split setup ... Can I run by you what I've done so far using EASEUS Partition Master v8.0.1...

I followed the Fat 32 Guide to setup 30GB for Fat32... Got two notes in purple in the spoiler...

    Spoiler

On the space left over I setup the NTFS side of it with the following options...

    Spoiler

I know I'll need to configure each loader & other programs in the Fat32 side to pull the WBFS or Music or other files in the NTFS... But not sure what the settings will be.... Will need more info that that too...

    Thanks..
