Dogegg... it doesnt take a different amount of power to read the disc, regardless if its positive or negative format, it's all up to the drive controller. it can read the disc because it's a DVD-ROM drive it will read any booktype DVD so therefor the WHOLE +,- thing is toast once you burn and finalize the DVD. it's basically personal preference.

not really. for me no DVD-r has been working apart from verbatims, let alone +r... it is a matter of construction tho. wiis have not been designed to read backups you know. So we need to put the ones that makes it less hard to read. So -r are the ones

I just successfully modded my wii today. I have not made any backups yet. I have the backup channel on the wii menu. My questiion is by enabling the dvd drive to read dvds will this put strain on the wii? Id rather just burn the disks instead of using a hdd since to load the games from hdd or sd card you have to go through alot of steps. or is there an easier way to load games from hdd or sd card like from the wii menu as a channel? From what I saw it needs to be loaded from the homebrew channel and then i think the cios load it and then select which drive to mount. And when you put a backup in you just go to the backup loader channel on the wii menu and it plays it?

If I am correct on this. DVD-R is a contiuous stream of data that reads like a vinyl record from the inside out. DVD+R is a packet data recording, like packages of data that is not continuous and causes pauses and break ups. + DVDs were meant for PC/Windows data storage.

I have been using DVD-R's on my Mac for a long time with no errors. Memorex DVD-R at $12.99 Best Buy 50Pk. Burn at 4x or under. I have no problems with the 100+ titles I have backed up.

have you realised that you have not put a single punctuation mark in there? it is impossible for anyone to understand what you mean.

    is it
1)burn the fastest according to the maximum speed of the disc
    2)burn the slowest available
3)burn the optimum speed according to the wii system.. speed 6x for game bought on store and 3x for dvd-r disc

    1. No.
    2. Yes, 2x or 4x should be OK.
    3. Just burn at 2x or 4x speed.
