Is there a specific model of LG drive that reads wii disks? I have an external dvd writer but it doesnt appear to read a wii disk.

I have been using Verbatim & Sony DVD-R for my Gamecube games. I burn them at 4x with imgBurn.
I think you can use DVD+R if you set the booktype (bitsetting) to DVD-ROM. I think imgBurn sets the booktype for you.
It seems to be LG DVD-ROM drives that can read Wii games. Not burners.

I just wanted to chime in and say that the advice given here was totally backwards to my experience. Dual Layer DVD- Verbatim discs failed. Whereas Dual Layer Memorex DVD+ worked fine

Now I will hop onto the tardis, go back in time 7 months, and let these folks know.

    young@heart:

Aside from (ahem) the timeliness of your reply, you have absolutely NO IDEA what you're talking about. Memorex makes NOTHING. Do you know what a media code is? Also, there's a "sublabel" brand of Verbatim (Life Series) that are every bit as inferior (CMC MAG media code) as Memorex junk. I have come across a rare Verbatim code for Memorex, but 99% of the time it's crappy CMC MAG or worse, the India brand codes.

Come back when you need schooled more, or have sufficient knowledge on the subject. And no, that's not just wiihacks' take on the matter. Look here for self-educating purposes.

I had some Memorex that had a ritec media code that i used for my PS2. I don't think one single disc failed to burn. They have stood the test of time and can still be played/copied. Also have some Mitsubishi that are quite old that still work. I know that in general memorex are crap. The Verbatim still work well. The Sony CDs no longer play but the DVDs do. Had trouble burning TDK no matter what burner i used.
