Thanks for responding shift_lock I installed homebrew like I said and have mmm and neogamma in apps ..I have looked in mmm and it says there are loads of ios installed (infact more than on the old wii thats ok(but thats a 3.2)) I have tried reading your softmod guide but I am 67 years old and its too complicated for me friend ..I was voluntered for this softmod but as its for a single parent person and her young daughter I agreed to have a go at it..so if you can help me more I would appricate it rather than be directed to guides I don't understand ..so would you be so good as to pm me .. The nintendo-scene tracker is not the one recommended here, and your results are (from my perspective) inaccurate. Use the site recommended.

And I'm tired of this so NO your wii CANNOT play burned media. It's got a GC2-D3-2 (v2) chip, which is NOT compatible with burned media/dvds.

Thanks for the helpful introduction. I did the softmod last night, went through without a hitch. Today I came across this intro guide. Im a bit confused about the BootMii install to IOS vs boot2 and restoring NAND. I remember seeing boot2 was not available and that IOS was automatic. Besides this screen stating this, is there a way to tell if a Wii can have bootMii installed on boot2? Is there a model code or something in the serial# to verify if I wanted to find/buy an older Wii? Lastly, if I want to make my current Wii a "virgin" again, its been stated that you need a NAND programmer. Is there a guide to doing?

    Thanks again.

The best way to see if your wii is boot2 compatible is to run the hackmii installer. There is a list of serial numbers you can check also. There is also a guide to remove softmod from any wii, but I don't see why any one would want to.

Do I need to mod my Wii to be able to play movies from an external hard drive? I have an old wii - v. 3.4, and haven't done a thing to it since I got it. I just got a new tv that unfortunately doesn't have a usable USB jack, and I figured I could use my Wii to connect to my external hard drive to play movies from there, or even hack the cd drive to play DVDs? How would I go about doing this? I read through 70% of the guide and realized it was just directed at people who want to play games, and I don't know where to start.

Sorry for the delayed response. All you need to play movies is WiiMC - so you'd need to do the first part of the guide (installing homebrew channel/making backup/etc). Once you have homebrew channel installed you can install WiiMC which will allow you to play media from USB or even DVDs (IF!) your console is older and has a dvd-capable drive, read first post for details.

Black wii and soft mod no prii loader

Hi, I hope Im in the right place. Im new. I have a black wii version 4.3e that I have soft mod using a game (indiana Jones), but the Prii loader didnt work. I got the instrunctions from someone else, and have used their stuff before. It was them that directed me here. I was told that it would be ok as long as I dont accept any new updates from games. We dont use it on the internet either. I had lots of games that I used to use, but they dont seem to work on this new wii. They are all on disk and are copies (not pirates), as I have 2 homes and like a copy in each house. I have Homebrew, USB loader GX Loandmii(use homebrew) and neogamma channel disc. Where do I go from here. My normal games still work in the origional disc loader from the menu. If anyone can help, please do, my kids are driving me nuts.
