since, a lot of people, seem to have issues, hacking animal crossing, don't quite understand it, or just have problems with it in general, and some people don't seem to understand how to use these programs, i am making a semi/fully idiot proof guide to do this, i will be doing animal crossing since its the most common for issues. hehe x.x
please note
all codes, mentioned, and used are for NTSC/U animal crossing.

things needed for this guide

• homebrew channel (i assumed you installed it, if not do, there's many guides on how.)
• Animal crossing, or the game you want to cheat in.
• a wii
• a SD card
• Gecko OS, or ocarina, they work the same so don't worry
• code manager
• a computer
• and most importantly, intelligence xD

Step 0

all files are in the correct spots, if you just open the SD card folder, and place them in the root of the SD card, or the places their labeled, youll be fine, you can add or remove whats in the Cheat folder, i forgot to delete the contents, so do what you want with them, but RUUE01.gct = animal crossing NTSC/U

Contents

• Gecko OS
• ocarina
• code manager
• a reference .txt file, which has all the codes shown bellow
• a reference .gct file, to use if you want, or to test for fun, in case something went wrong. it has all the files, Checked in the last picture
• my Animal crossing game save
• Animal crossing town editor

Step 1
extract, to a spot that's easy to find.

Step 2
go to either of these 2 sites, for the codes. find the game code, and then open the link

Step 3
Since, were doing animal crossing, all codes can be found [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Step 4
im gonna use this, code
C138 - AE6C, are item codes, those are all "nintendo items" you can change those to whatever you want using [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], to use them in game push "A + B + C + Z + 1"

Step 5
Open Code manager it will look like this

Step 6
theres 2 ways, to do this, if you go to Usb gecko, and download the .txt File you can skip to step 11, if you are doing them from scratch, read on.
Find the Game ID spot, and put in the game ID, since im doing NTSC/U, animal crossing its "RUUE01", if you want to add a game name, feel free, its not important

Step 7
click "add a code/comment/category" and add a name its not important, but i would use something you understand, since it will be important later on if you want to edit, or remove it.

then click ok
it should look like this now

step 8
Click on, the item, so its highlighted blue, and in the top right box that says "code contents" add in your code
it should look something like this

Step 9
once its finshed, click "store modification"
it should look like this

Click ok, then you should see a box next to it, if it has a Check in it, it will be used, when you start the game

Step 10
add in the other codes you want, just do the same as step 7 - 9
when you make a new code, and select it you should get this message

Just click "yes" and you can move on, dont worry about what it says, its not really important, just say yes.

Step 11
put your SD card, into your computer, if it isn't already done

Step 12
Click "export to GCT"

you should see the SD card, in the "drive letter" drop down, if it isnt, then select it, if you do this, then it will be automatically, put in the right place
it should look like this

Step 13
open the folder labeled "root" in the Rar you downloaded, and put the files exactly as you see them on you SD card, if you have the "cheat" folder, then ignore the file, if you already have a "apps" folder, then just put the program, into it, i added both Gecko OS, and Ocarina, you only need 1, and you dont need to edit them, they will work as is.

Step 14
remove the SD card, and put it in the wii

Step 15
Start up the wii, put in your game, and load Homebrew channel

Step 16
Select the cheat program you want

Step 17
Click launch, and wait for it to say "codes found... applying" or something along those lines, once it boots, they should work, provided you did everything right

Step 18

Bonus steps

Since theres a Town editior program for Animal crossing, im not gonna post how to use it, but it is in the download rar, i also added in my Game save file, DONT USE IT ON YOUR WII, it is only to learn how to use the program.

to get your gamesave on your SD card

Step 1
install save extractor

Step 2
put in animal crossing

Step 3
Open the program, and do the prompts

Step 4
it should be in a folder, called "gave saves" open it, and keep opening till you find the various saves.

Step 5
Open the program, and find the needed file

Step 6
do what you want with the program MAKE A BACKUP using this program has a high corruption rate, be careful.

Step 7
save it in the same spot, and over write the old one, not the back up one, and click save

Step 8
once its on the SD card, put the SD card, in your wii, and boot up homebrew channel, with animal crossing disc in

Step 9
Use save installer, and do the prompts

Step 10

Thanks a lot for this admiral victorinox,

I seem to have a problem though.

Now I have used your example for another game of mine Super Paper Mario.
But i have a back up copy of it. The only way i can get the cheats to work is when i rebook with hooks. The problem with that is when i do it, it loads the game in black and white. The game is a PAL version but when i use game loader and force NTSC, it loads with all the colors, just not the ocarina cheats.

Got any tips? And is anyone else having the same issue?

people have issues with loading out of region games on in region tv's its not fixable unless u randomly get a setting the tv likes, if there is one

I know this seems silly to ask but I didn't realise that hacking a game on the Wii would be so complicated. I was going to buy an Action Replay disc for my Wii and manage to hack it that way like I did with my PS2 + PS3. But I'd just like to ask if you know whether AR will work with Animal Crossing?

its a special hacked gamesave, i believe if it has a FC on it, it can brick your wii if u go online
